Bailey Announces Candidacy for Congress

Former State Senator Darren Bailey has announced he is a candidate for Congress in 2024.

Bailey annoounced Tuesday evening that he will be a candidate for the Republican nomination for Congress. The incumbent Congressman, Mike Bost, also a Republican, has already announced his plans to seek another term.

Bailey was the Republican nominee for governor in the 2022 campaign.

Bailey said, "I will fight for Southern Illinois and be your voice in Congress, fighting tooth and nail to protect our Second Amendment rights and defend the sanctity of life, and I will always be a champion for American jobs and working families."

Bailey and his wife of 37 years, Cindy, live on their farm along the Xenia-Iola Road. They have four married children and 12 grandchildren, and attend Crossroots Church in Effingham. You can find out more about Bailey at BaileyforIllinois.com
