Bids on the reconstruction of the intersection of Evergreen Avenue and Willenborg Street came in below the engineer's estimate.

Feutz Contractors of Paris was the low bidder at $534,870, some $130,000 below the estimated cost.

The project involves reconstructing 180 feet west on Evergreen from the intersection, as well as 240 feet north and 450 feet south on Willenborg from the intersection.

The bids were accepted by the Council at Tuesday's meeting, but an award of the bid will come later.

The Council heard a request for $110,000 from Effingham Regional Growth Alliance Director Courtney Yockey. Council members present were favorable to funding the Alliance, although Mayor Mike Schutzbach spoke plainly that he feels all of the stakeholders in development in the county need to also contribute funding. A vote on the funding will take place at a future meeting.

Council members sold property at Rollin Hills Boulevard and Keller Drive to the Mark E. Mayhood Living Trust for $29,500; and annexed four parcels of property into the City. Those properties are owned by Rachel Slavens, Andrew and Nicole Slavens, Brad and Maura Voyles, and a residential area south of the Voyles property off North 4th Street. Also approved was subdivision plats of the sixth addition to Prairie Ace Estates near Effingham Country Club and the fifth addtion to Effingham Business Park.

The Council discussed an agreement with Magoo and Associates for IT services to help with cyber security, and discussed an economic development grant.

Assistant City Administrator Dennis Presley said the city's new website is to go online on July 6.

City Commissioner Libby Moeller was not present for Tuesday's meeting.
