Three people were killed in an eight-vehicle crash in Massac County over the noon hour Sunday.
State police report a semi driven by 57-year-old Rickey Warren of Holly Springs, Mississippi failed to reduce speed and struck a line of vehicles, resulting in a chain-reaction crash. The crash scene was on westbound I-24. Warren was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and following too closely.
Police said the three killed in the crash would be identified pending notification of next-of-kin by the Massac County Coroner.
A total of 12 people were in the eight vehicles. The other drivers were from Vandalia; Cadiz, Kentucky; Granite City; St. Louis; Bellevue, Nebraska; Seaford, Delaware; and Medina, Tennessee.
