Ste. Marie Man Sent to Prison for Marion County Offense

A Ste. Marie man has been sentenced to prison for aggravated domestic battery in Marion County.

31-year-old Marcus Brewer was arrested in March following an incident along I-57, north of the Salem exit. The Marion County Sheriff's Department received a report from a passing motorist of a man beating a woman in a car along the roadway. Deputies found the woman in the car, but Brewer left the scene on foot. 

Police using a canine eventually located Brewer at the Salem Walmart. The woman was treated for her injuries at the Salem hospital.

In Marion County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Brewer pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison.
