Ste. Marie Man in Court in Marion County

Bond was set at $50,000 for a Ste. Marie man who has been charged with aggravated domestic battery.

Marcus Brewer is accused of strangling and impeding the breathing of a woman he was traveling with on I-57 north of Salem (previous story). A passerby reported the domestic dispute in the car on the side of the road. The alleged victim was in the car, but Brewer was gone when sheriff’s deputies arrived. They were able to track his footprints in the snow to Alma and later learned he had been given a ride to the Salem Walmart where he was taken into custody.

Brewer had the public defender appointed to represent him.
