Stew-Stras Earns Fourth Place at Mount Pulaski Tourney

Stewardson-Strasburg High School finished fourth at the Mount Pulaski Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

"Very tough competition," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We saw some intense volleyball today that will really help with our regionals this week.The girls played with eveyrthing they had the first three matches but then struggled off and on the next two matches. We gave Edwards County their first loss in a set all season so we are very proud about that. The girls really had to battle against these big teams but they found ways to get the ball down."

Stew-Stras opened with a 25-18, 20-25, 25-21 win over Gibault. In the second match, Stew-Stras fell to Edwards County 25-22, 24-26, 25-23. The Comets then beat Illini Central 26-24, 28-26.

Mount Pulaski won the next match 29-27, 25-12. Mount Zion then went three games and won 25-16, 20-25, 25-22.

Stew-Stras is now 22-12 on the season.
