Bulldogs Win On Senior Night, Area Volleyball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School handed Dieterich a loss during Senior Night festivities Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs won in two games, 25-9, 25-17. Rachel Schultz led in aces with five and digs with 10. Hailey Mathias had 15 assists and two blocks. Megan Nuxoll banged home eight kills.
Dieterich was led by Mickayla Winters and Madison Boergen with three points each. Winters added an ace and Boerngen had two kills. Mindy Bohnhoff had four digs and five assists.
In junior varsity action, St. Anthony was a winner 25-16, 25-17. The Bulldogs also claimed freshman/sophomore wins 25-11, 25-6.

Effingham dropped an Apollo Conference loss to Salem Tuesday evening, 25-22, 27-25. The Hearts are now 4-6 in the conference, 17-17 overall.
Chandler Ramey had nine digs for the Hearts. Bethany Donaldson led in kills with nine. Felicia Totten had 22 assists. Katie Bloemker, Ramey and Shelby Nunamaker had one block each.
EHS won the junior varsity match 25-22, 25-9. Salem claimed the freshman contest 25-21, 18-25, 25-11.

The Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament continued Tuesday evening. In Pool A competition, Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran defeated Patoka 25-17, 24-26, 18-16.
St. Elmo/Brownstown then downed Christ Our Rock Lutheran 25-16, 25-15. Patoka won over Ramsey 25-20, 25-23. SE/Brownstown is now 17-15 on the season.
Thursday matches in Bronze Flight are Ramsey vs. Mulberry Grove at 6 p.m., Patoka vs. Mulberry Grove at 7 p.m. and Patoka vs. Ramsey at 8 p.m.

Newton went three games before capturing a Little Illini Conference win over Robinson. The Eagles are now 9-1 on the season and 22-12 overall.
Cartright led Newton with 15 kills. Zerrusen had 13 assists. E. Johnson had 18 digs. Sandschafer led in aces with three.
Newton also won the junior varsity match 25-11, 25-16. Robinson claimed the freshman contest 24-26, 25-13, 25-23.
