Effingham High School claimed a nonference volleyball victory over Altamont Monday evening.
The Hearts won in two games, 25-17, 25-17. Josie Zerrusen led the way in digs with six while Felicia Totten had 17 assists. Chandler Ramey and Stephanie Robb shared honors in the kill department with six each. Robb added two aces. Ramey and Katie Bloemer had two blocks each.
Altamont was led by White with five kills, one ace and three blocks, Ledbetter and Wendling with five digs each and Laatsch with three blocks. The Indians drop to 24-7.
In junior varsity action, Effingham won 25-17, 27-25. The Hearts also won the freshman match 25-13, 25-14.

St. Anthony won the varsity match over North Clay (Louisville) in two games, 25-3, 25-18.
The Bulldogs were led by Lauren Wendt with four aces and four kills, Haylee Mathis with four kills, five digs and 11 assists and Megan Nuxoll with four kills. Mathis and Wendt had one block each.
North Clay won the junior varsity match 25-22, 25-21.

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up its 20th win of the season Monday by downing Casey-Westfield 25-18, 25-17 in non-conference action. The Comets have now had back-to-back 20 win seasons. It was a good present for Coach Ronda Schlechte who was celebrating her birthday.
"We ended our last season match with a win," said Coach Schlechte. "Everyone seemed to be on tonight with few problems. The stats were well-rounded which made for a fun match. Defense was strong tonight and we were able to pull up a lot of hits."
Kendall Knop had three aces for the winners while Becca Schlechte and Brittani Tabbert led in digs with eight each. Baylee Quast had 16 assists and 11 digs. Schlechte led in blocks with two.
Casey-Westfield won the junior varsity match 25-13, 26-24. The Comets drop to 8-7.

Neoga handed Paris a 25-13, 25-13 non-conference defeat Monday evening.
The Indians' Olivia Ott and Courtney Croy led in kills with seven each. The victory was the 20th of the season for Neoga which improves to 20-13.
Paris was a winner in junior varsity competition 25-20, 26-24.

Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament
The Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament opened play Monday evening at Brownstown High School and St. Elmo High School.
Scores from Brownstown: Cowden-Herrick defeated Mulberry Grove 25-4, 25-14, Cowden-Herrick defeated Beecher City 21-25, 25-13, 17-15 and Beecher City defeated Mulberry Grove 26-24, 21-25, 15-8.
Scores from St. Elmo: St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Patoka 25-9, 25-11, Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran defeated Ramsey 25-22, 25-18 and St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Ramsey 25-12, 25-13.
