St. A Wins NTC Volleyball Tourney, EHS Third at Edwards County

St. Anthony's volleyball team won the National Trail Conference Tournament during the weekend.
The St. Anthony Bulldogs won the National Trail Conference Volleyball Tournament Saturday night.
In the Gold Flight, Stewardson-Strasburg and St. Anthony each defeated Neoga. Stew-Stras won 25-16, 23-25, 25-19 and the Bulldogs won 25-20, 25-10. Then St. Anthony defeated Stew-Stras 27-25, 25-19 to claim the championship.
In the Silver Flight, Altamont and Windsor each defeated South Central . Altamont won 25-22, 25-16 and Windsor claimed a 25-23, 25-18 victory. Then Altamont defeated Windsor 25-23, 25-18 to claim the top spot.
In the Bronze Flight, St. Elmo/Brownstown and Cowden-Herrick each defeated Beecher City. St. Elmo/Brownstown won 25-21, 25-17 and C-H won 25-16, 17-25, 25-21. Then St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Cowden-Herrick 25-13, 25-23 to capture the top spot.

Effingham took third and Newton finished fourth in the Gold Division of the Edwards County (Albion) Tournament Saturday.
Effingham defeated Flora 25-13, 25-13, defeated Fairfield 18-25, 25-18, 15-13, lost to Benton 25-18, 23-25, 15-8, lost to Edwards County 25-17, 25-10 and beat Newton 25-17, 25-21.
The Eagles beat Lawrenceville 25-18, 25-10 and Hamilton County 25-19, 25-23. Newton then lost to Edwards County 25-13, 25-13, Benton 31-29, 25-19 and Effingham 25-17, 25-22.
