Altamont Continues To Roll in Volleyball, Area Roundup

RAMSEY -- Altamont High School continues to roll along in volleyball competition as the Indians handed Ramsey a loss Monday evening.

The Indians went 25-10, 25-7 to pick up their 17th win in 21 matches. Altamont plays host to St. Anthony tonight and takes a 4-0 National Trail Conference mark into the fray.

Altamont also won the junior varsity match 2-0.

 

At Dieterich

Cumberland traveled to Dieterich and the homestanders picked up a 25-15, 25-23 win to improve to 4-11 on the season.

Mickayla Winters and Madison Boerngen led the way with eight points and two aces each. Heidi Thoele led in digs with eight while Winters had 10 kills. Mindy Bohnhoff led in assists with 19.

Cumberland was a winner in junior varsity play, 25-20, 19-25, 25-12.

At Dieterich

Dieterich -- Bohnhoff, 1 point, 2 digs, 4 kills, 19 assists; Winters, 8 points, 2 aces, 5 digs, 10 kills; Zacha, 2 kills; Thoele, 5 points, 1 ace, 8 digs, 3 kills; Vahling, 4 points, 5 digs, 3 kills; Boerngen, 8 points, 2 aces, 4 digs, 3 kills

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis defeated North Clay (Louisville) in close games, 25-16, 23-25, 26-24.

In the junior varsity match, the Wooden Shoes picked up victories 25-23, 25-18.

 

At Newton

Salem traveled to Newton and claimed a varsity match victory 25-21, 25-11. Newton was led by H. Litzelman with seven kills. B. Koebele had eight assists. E. Johnson led in digs with 10 while A. Kline and G. Zerrusen led in blocks with two each.

Newton won a freshman match 26-24, 25-14. Salem took the junior varsity match 25-16, 24-26, 25-18.

At Patoka

St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Patoka in Egyptian-Illini Conference action, 25-14, 25-17. St. Elmo/Brownstown improves to 4-0 in the conference, 9-11 overall.

The winners were led in kills by G. Moore and E. Bone with six each. E. Behl had 10 assists. B. Oberlink led in aces with four. Moore also led in digs with 10.

St. Elmo/Brownstown also won the junior varsity match 25-12, 25-11.

At Patoka

Effingham Freshman Tournament

In the Hearts freshman tournament Saturday, St. Anthony captured first place while Effingham was second, Altamont third and Dieterich fourth.

Effingham beat Altamont 25-23, 25-16, St. Anthony beat Dieterich 25-11, 25-13. Altamont then defeated Dieterich 25-22, 25-11 for third place and St. Anthony downed Effingham 25-20, 25-16 for the championship.
