Effingham St. Anthony picked up a three-set match over St. Elmo/Brownstown in volleyball competition Tuesday.

St. Anthony won the opener 25-12 but lost the second game 25-22. The Bulldogs took the match 25-18.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by E. Bone and G. Moore with six kills each. Moore led in digs with 10 along with M. Walk. The Eagles drop to 2-2 in the National Trail Conference, 8-10 overall.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity contest, 25-15, 25-17 and split the freshman/sophomore contest losing the opener 25-13 but winning the next match 25-17.

At St. Elmo

At Mattoon

Taylor Smith was unstoppable for Mattoon, garnering 13 kills as the Green Wave defeated Effingham in Apollo Conference play, 25-20, 25-9. EHS drops to 1-1 in the conference, 7-7 overall.

Effingham was led by Chandler Ramsey with five digs and five kills. Felicia Totten had seven assists.

The Hearts won the junior varsity contest 25-22, 25-17 to improve to 1-1 in the conference. In an exhibition match, Mattoon won 25-27, 25-13, 25-15.

At Neoga

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a National Trail Conference victory over Neoga 25-20, 27-25. The win gives the Comets a 5-1 NTC mark and a 9-5 overall record.

"Neoga gave us a very tough match tonight," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Team work and confidence was key. The girls hit really well around a big block and played good defense. It was nice to see after the game we had last night. We will have a tough NTC tournament this year so improving every night is a must."

Kendall Knop and Brittani Tabbert led in kills with eight each. Becca Schlechte had 15 assists. Knopp led in digs with 15.

Neoga won the junior varsity match 25-21, 25-13. Stew-Stras drops to 3-3 in the conference, 5-4 overall. In an exhibition contest, Neoga won 25-23, 25-19. Stew-Stras drops to 1-1-4.

Altamont defeated Cowden-Herrick 25-10, 25-14 to improve to 5-0 in the National Trail Conference, 14-2 overall.

Kopplin had seven kills and two aces. Wendling had 15 assists and three aces. Ledbetter led in digs with seven.

Altamont won the junior varsity 2-1.

Windsor defeated Dieterich 25-13, 9-25, 15-14. Leading Dieterich were Mallorie Vahling with six kills. Mindy Bohnhoff had three aces. Madison Boerngen led in blocks with six.

Windsor was led by Autumn Bennett and Paige Woolard with seven kills each. Allie Bridges and Olivia Williamson had two aces. Wollard had two blocks.

Windsor won the junior varsiyt match 25-16, 25-11.
