Effingham St. Anthony High School defeated Cowden-Herrick in volleyball competition Tuesday evening, 25-9, 25-12.
Rachel Schults led in aces with four for the Bulldogs. Logan Braunecker had four kills while Megan Nuxoll had six digs. Hailey Mathias led in assists with 17.
Cowden-Herrick won the junior varsity contest, 26-24, 20-25, 25-22.

At Altamont
Altamont had a three-game victory over Neoga in National Trail Conference play Tuesday. Neoga won the opener 25-21 but the Indians rallied to take the second game 25-20 then won the match 25-19.
White had 11 kills for the winners and two stuff blocks. Wending and Kopplin led in aces with two each. Wendling had 23 assists. Ledbetter had six digs. The Indians are now 3-0 in the NTC, 11-2 overall.
Altamont also nabbed the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-20.

Windsor came calling and handed Beecher City a National Trail Conference loss. The Blue Devils won 25-8, 25-23.
Caitlin Sloan had three aces for the Eagles while Kirby Herrmann led in kills with four and digs with six. Kacie Hilt also had six digs and led in assists with six. The Eagles drop to 4-6 overall.
Windsor won the junior varsity match 25-14, 25-14.

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a non-conference win over Teutopolis 25-12, 25-13 to improve to 6-5 on the season.
Baylee Quast, Kendall Knop and Lindsay Burton had two aces each. Knop added nine kills and six digs. Quast led in assists with 15 and had nine digs. Brittani Tabbert chipped in with nine digs.
"Our confidence was up tonight after a long tough weekend," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We tried a new rotation tonight to try to mix things up. The girls were working real hard on getting the block set and we were able to get more hands on the ball. Just little things to keep us improving as we move through the season."
Teutopolis was a winner in junior varsity play, 25-16, 25-15. Stew-Stras drops to 5-1. In exhibition action, Stew-Stras won 25-22 and T-town came back to win 25-19.

Newton played host to Charleston and fell to the Trojans 25-14, 25-21. The loss drops the Eagles to 9-5 on the season.
G. Zerrusen led in assists with 10 while E. Johnson had eight digs. H. Litzelman had three blocks. T. Johnson had five kills and A. Cartright two aces.
Newton won the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-22 and claimed the freshman win 25-6, 29-27.
