Altamont Wins Roxana Volleyball Tournament

ROXANA -- Altamont High School captured the championship of the Roxana Volleyball Tournament during finals play Saturday.

In semifinal round play, Altamont downed host Roxana 21-13, 21-14. White had 10 kills and three digs while Ledbetter had three aces and three digs. Wendling led in assists with 17. The sets went to 21 because of the heat.

In the championship match, Altamont defeated Hardin Calhoun 16-21, 23-21, 17-15. Alwardt led in kills with nine. Wendling had 16 assists. Smith led in aces with two and Kopplin and Ledbetter had three digs each. Altamont is now 4-1 on the season.

Seventh place: Alton defeated Marquette 25-20, 25-12.

Fifth place: Jersey defefeated EA-WR 21-14, 21-17.

Gold Bracket

Altamont defeated Roxana 21-13, 21-14.

Calhoun defeated Bunker Hill 21-11, 21-11.

Third place: Roxana defeated Bunker Hill 16-21, 21-7, 15-7.

Championship: Altamont defeated Calhoun 16-21, 23-21, 17-15.
