SIGEL -- Altamont and Sigel St. Michael met Thursday with both teams coming out with a junior high volleyball victory.

Altamont won the seventh-grade match. The Wildcats lost the opener 25-23 but came back with 25-23, 25-22 victories for the match.

Altamont improved ot 9-8 and is back in action Saturday in the National Trail Conference Tournament taking on Stewardson-Strasburg at 10 a.m.

In the eighth-grade contest, Sigel St. Michael was the winner 25-9, 25-8.

Altamont dropped to 2-12 on the season.

 

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner in the seventh-grade match while Mulberry Grove claimed the eighth-grade contest Thursday.

The Bobcats won the first set 25-13 but Mulberry Grove came back with the second set win 25-23. CHBC then won the match, 25-15.

Anna Hart led the winners in kills with 11 and digs with three. Hadley Pope had nine aces and 18 points. Kaycie Thatcher led in assists with four.

In the eighth-grade match, Mulberry Grove was the winner with the opening set 25-22 and the third set 25-8. CHBC won the second set 25-16.

Harper Lilley had three aces, 12 points and one block. Raylee Martin led in kills with six and digs with three. Madalyne Brown also had three digs. Natalie Tucker led in assists with 13.

At Cowden

Seventh-Grade Match

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City -- Vaughn, 1 kill, 5 aces, 1 assist, 1 dig, 10 points; Hart, 11 kills, 3 aces, 1 assist, 3 digs, 4 points; Pope, 9 aces, 3 assists, 2 digs, 18 points; Thatcher, 1 kill, 4 assists, 1 dig, 2 points; Lawrence, 5 kills, 2 aces, 1 assist, 1 dig, 2 points; Thompson, 5 kills, 1 ace, 7 points; Doty, 3 assists; Goeckner, 3 assists

Eighth-Grade Match

At Dieterich

Teutopolis was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade play against Dieterich Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest, 25-13, 19-25, 25-22 to improve to 7-6 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won 25-17, 23-25, 25-17 and is now 10-3.

Leading T-town were Rose Brummer with eight kills and 19 digs, Faith Ruholl with five aces and Jenna Beckman with 10 assists.

At Dieterich

Eighth-Grade Match

Teutopolis -- Beckman, 10 assists, 2 kills, 1 dig, 4 aces; Niebrugge, 5 kills, 12 digs, 4 aces; Ruholl, 3 kills, 7 digs, 5 aces; Tegler, 6 assists, 6 kills, 4 digs, 3 aces; Brummer, 8 kills, 1 block, 19 digs; Caulkins, 2 aces, 10 digs

 

At Albion

Jasper County was a winner in both matches over Albion Thursday evening.

Albion won the seventh-grade opener 25-22 but Jasper County came back with 25-15, 25-20 scores to improve to 8-4.

Wolf led in aces with six and digs with six. Zumbahlen had eight assists. Briscoe and Lingafelter led in kills with five each. Ochs had one block.

In the eighth-grade match, again Jasper County lost the opening set 25-14 but came back with 25-21, 25-18 scores to improve to 11-1.

Thomann led in aces with five. Wagner had eight kills and five digs while Stanley led in assists with 10 and had five digs.

Jasper County is back in action Saturday in the LEIC Eighth-Grade Tournament.

At Albion

At Louisville

North Clay claimed a seventh-grade victory over Fairfield but fell in eighth-grade action Thursday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-14, 25-20.

In eighth-grade action, Farifield was a winner, 25-16, 25-16. North Clay dropped to 10-5 on the season and will be back in competition today against Patoka at 3:45 p.m.
