Effingham and Stewardson-Strasburg split victories in junior high volleyball competition Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 25-20, 25-12 to improve to 3-1.

Kendyl Smith led in kills with four and aces with seven. Bailey Cloie had eight assists. Savannah Fear led in digs with two.

Stew-Stras claimed the eighth-grade match, 25-21, 25-23.

Effingham was led by April Martin with seven kills and three digs. Aubrey Huston had three digs. Alayna Wade led in aces with four and assists with nine. Addison Veach and Martin had one block each.

At Strasburg

At Dieterich

St. Anthony picked up two victories over Dieterich in Tuesday evening action.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade match 25-18, 25-15. Nina Semple led the team in assists with five. JackLynn Nuxoll had five kills. Sylvia Semple and Amaya Griffith had six aces each.

In the eighth-grade match, St. Anthony was led by Nora Niebrugge with eight assists, Carli Budde with four kills, Hanna Frisbie with four digs, Hanna Frisbie with six aces and Rachel Emmerich, Cheyenne Barker, Budde and Payton Clark with one block each.

At Dieterich

At Cowden

Teutopolis and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City captured a win each in Tuesday evening play.

CHBC was the winner in the seventh-grade match, 21-25, 25-19, 25-11. T-town dropped to 3-2 on the season.

CHBC was led by Anna Hart with four kills, Hadley Pope with 15 aces, 25 points and two assists, Jacey Sears with two digs. Elaina Thompson had one block 

In the eighth-grade match, Teutopolis was a winner, 25-12, 25-18.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Faith Ruholl with eight aces, 10 digs and two kills. Rose Brummer and Bella Niebrugge had five kills each and Aubrey Travis had four aces. T-town improved to 5-0.

CHBC was led by Raylee Martin and Lyric Bennett with one kill each, Bennett had one dig. Harper Lilly with three aces, Natalie Tucker with two assists, and Sophie Zumbahen with eight points.

T-town is back in action Thursday at Casey-Westfield in a 4:30 p.m. contest.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City -- Lilly, 3 aces, 5 points; Tucker, 2 assists; Martin, 1 kill; Bennett, 1 kill, 1 dig; Zumbahlen, 2 aces, 8 points

 

At Vandalia

Altamont won over Vandalia in the seventh-grade match Tuesday evening.

Altamont lost its opener 25-9 but came back for the match with 25-16, 25-20 scores and improved to 1-2.

Mia Totten led in aces with six and blocks with one. Totten, along with Teegan Burrus, Kali Merritt, Payton Ort and Aubrey Roberts had one kill each. Burrus, Addi Neu and Inze Polk had one dig each.

Vandalia claimed the eighth-grade contest, 25-17, 25-12. Altamont dropped to 0-3.

Alyssa Ruholl and Summer Martin had one ace and one assist each. Adelita Ruffner led in kills with three and digs with three. Ruholl had two blocks.
