CHBC Wins Twice At EIC Tourney, Volleyball Roundup

The Bobcats won over Martinsvile, 26-24, 25-11. Birgen Schlanser led the team in aces with two and had nine digs. Kyleigh Wallace led the team in kills with six. Haley Doty led in assists with 11. Macee Rodman had two blocks and 11 digs.
CHBC then won over Patoka, 25-20, 25-12. Schlanser again led in digs with 19 and now has 1,000 career digs. Ellie Miller led in kills with 10. Wallace had four aces and three blocks. Gracie Wright and Doty finished with 11 assists each.
In the other match, Patoka downed Martinsville, 25-23, 25-19.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City moved into the championship match Thursday aginst St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:30 p.m.
In the third place match at 6:30, Ramsey takes on Patoka. The fifth place match will feature Mulberry Grove against Martinsville at 5:30.

At Mattoon
Effingham High School swept Mattoon in volleyball action Tuesday evening.
The Hearts claimed the varsity contest, 25-22, 25-17. Reaghan Delong led the Hearts in kills with six. Hanna Thompson had three aces. Mckenzie Love and Ashlyn Davis finished with a block each. Alyssa Martin had four digs.
Effingham improved to 28-7 on the season and isn't back in action until next Tuesday at Bethalto at 6 p.m. against Jerseyville in regional play.
The Hearts also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-11 to improve to 24-3.
In freshman/sophomore play, Effingham was a winner 21-15, 12-21, 15-9.

Teutopolis improved to 20-14 on the season with a victory over Robinson Tuesday.
Robinson claimed the opening set 25-18 before T-town came back with 25-17, 25-23 wins for the match.
The Wooden Shoes were led by Kaitlyn Horn with three blocks, Brittany Swingler with 13 assists, Paige Swingler with 12 points and three aces, Claresa Ruholl with 22 digs and three aces and Madison Miller with 13 kills.
In the junior varsity match, Robinson captured the victory, 20-25, 27-25 and 15-10. T-town dropped to 16-4.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg downed Tuscola in Tuesday evening action, 25-12, 25-10.
"We finished our regular season celebrating our seniors Kinley, Samantha, Ellie, Alaira, Avery and Grace," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "After a tough loss last night, the seniors chose an EKS theme night in remembrance of Edie, Karly and Sienna to refocus the team before post-season."
The Hatchets improved to 27-8 on the season and had a perfect National Trail Conference record at 8-0.
Brinlie Durbin and Mya Friese led in aces with three each. Colby McCormick led in kills with seven. Brinley Durbin had 18 assists. Kinley Quast led in digs with nine. Ellie Wittenberg had four block assists.
In the junior varsity contest, Windsor/Stew-Stras won 25-14, 25-13 and ended with a 9-10 record.
In a freshman/sophomore match, WSS was a winner 25-10, 25-22 and ended with a 6-6-8 record.

The Cougars were led by Jalynn Mitchell with 16 digs, Bailey Wodtka and Reagan Roberts with four kills each, Roberts led in assists with six. Kinley Thompson had two blocks. Mitchell and River Yingst with one ace each.
The varsity squad is 16-15 on the season.
Richland County won the junior varsity match, 25-21, 11-25, 15-10. South Central fell to 9-6. The freshmen/sophomores won in two sets, 25-18, 25-22 and is 9-3-3.

Cumberland will be back in action Thursday hosting Villa Grove in a Pink Out match.
Tri-County also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-20. Cumberland dropped to 5-13.
