VANDALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony downed Vandalia in high school volleyball action Monday evening.

The Bulldogs were winners, 25-18, 25-13. Cara Hatton led the team in kills with 11. Nancy Ruholl and Addi Nuxoll had five digs and three aces each, Audrey LaSarge led in blocks with five. Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with 11.

St. Anthony improved to 15-8 on the season.

The Bulldogs also claimed the junior varsity match win, 25-23, 25-20.

At Newton

Newton played host to Teutopolis and claimed the varsity and junior varsity victories Monday evening.

The Eagles won the varsity contest 25-16, 25-23. Camryn Martin and Sally Mahaffey led in kills with four each. Mahaffey had 15 assists. Allie Hermann led in digs with 15. Hydi Bierman and Bailee Frichtl had one block each.

T-town was led by Kaitlyn Horn with two blocks, two aces and seven points, Claresa Ruholl and Paige Swingler with 10 digs each, Kaylie Jordan with seven assists and Madison Miller with three kills.

The Wooden Shoes dropped to 15-11 on the season.

In junior varsity play, Newton was a 25-18, 25-8 winner. T-town fell to 14-3.

The Wooden Shoes won the freshman/sophomore contest, 25-18, 18-25, 26-24 and is 22-6-3 on the season.

At Toledo

Cumberland lost the opening set against Casey-Westfield 25-15. But the Pirates came back Monday evening to take the match with 26-24, 25-18 tallies in the final two sets.

MacKenzie Claybaugh led the team in digs with 11. Leah Gray and Suzy Fritts had one ace each. Fritts led in assists with nine. Mia Holsapple and Alysa Dittamore had four blocked shots each and Dittamore led in kills with seven.

Casey-Westfield won the junior varsity match 25-13, 25-15. Cumberland dropped to 15-9.
