Trinity competed in a tournament in Peoria during the weekend. There were 16 teams, three pool play matches and then brackets.

Trinity won their pool defeating Bethany Naperville, Yorkville Cross and Kirkwood CCLS.

They then defeated Trinity Edwardsville in the first bracket match putting them in the Final Four.

Green Park St. Louis defeated Trinity keeping them out of the championship match.

"They were a very good team who ended up winning the tournament, beating the host school Christ Peoria," said Coach Tammy Manhart.

"We had only played four matches before this weekend, so it was a bit of a slow start for us, but we got better as the tournament went on playing some of our best volleyball in the third and fourth place match.

"Since graduating five eighth-graders last year, we have several players learning new positions and getting their first opportunity to play eighth-grade volleyball.  I am happy with the way the girls are adjusting to their new positions and look forward to competing in the Lutheran State Tournament in a couple weeks. Abree Zalman and Kalia Friese were chosen for the all-tournament team."
