Bulldogs, Hearts, Cougars, Maroons, Eagles Win In Volleyball

Effingham St. Anthony handed North Clay (Louisville) a loss in high school volleyball competition Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs won 25-10, 25-13 to imrpove to 7-1 in the National Trail Conference, 14-8 overall.

Addi Nuxoll led in digs with three and had one block. Audrey LaSarge and Reese Hoene also had one block each. Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with 12. Cara Hatton had seven kills. Lilly Gananway led in aces with three. Kallie Kabbes had three digs

St. Anthony also claimed the junior varsity victory, 25-22, 25-11.

The Bulldogs are back in action Monday at Vandalia.

At Effingham

At Altamont

Effingham improved to 15-6 on the season with a victory over Altamont Thursday.

The Hearts won 25-17, 25-13. Bella Austin led in kills with 10. Berkley Pullen and Hanna Thompson had three aces and 11 assists each. Mckenzie Love led in blocks with three. Avery Wolfe had six digs.

Altamont was led by Makaylee Splechter with two kills and six assists, Kylie Osteen and Riley Rippetoe with two kills each. Laila Hankins had nine digs. Maya Moore and Osteen led in blocks with one each.

The Hearts also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-12 and improved to 19-3. EHS claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-16, 25-11 and is 5-10.

At Farina

The South Central Cougars defeated Neoga in two sets, 25-21, 25-23 Thursday.

The Cougars were led by Zoey Feldhake with three aces and nine digs, Mya Schaal with two blocks, Lauren Johnson with five kills and River Yingst with 10 assists.

South Central improved to 14-11 on the season.

The junior varsity also captured a victory, this one in three sets, 24-26, 25-23, 15-9 and is 8-5. In freshman/sophomore play, South Central won 25-14, 25-23 and is now 8-3-2.

At Farina

Dieterich picked up a victory over Ramsey Thursday. The Maroons won 25-15, 25-17 and is now 14-11 on the season.

Marli Michl led Dieterich in digs with 11 and kills with nine. Ella Kreke had 18 assists. Kinley Will led in aces with four. Allie Uthell had four blocked shots.

At Newton

Newton High School improved its varsity volleyball record to 21-5 on the season with a victory over Marshall Thursday.

The Eagles won 25-21, 25-19. Sally Mahaffey led the Eagles in assists with 24 and had one blocked shot. Allie Stanley also had one blocked shot. Allie Hermann led in digs with 12. Camryn Martin had three aces and Bailee Frichtl led in kills with eight.

Newton also nabbed the junior varsity match win, 25-11, 17-25, 15-7.

Newton is back in action Monday against Teutopolis.

At Arthur

Unity Christian won the championship of the Lincoln Priarie Conference Touranment Thursday.

Unity Christian downed Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 25-17, 25-19.

In the third place match, Sullivan won over Arcola, 25-13, 25-19.

The consolation championship went to Heritage over Tri-County, 25-20, 19-25, 25-15.
