TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham St. Anthony tallied a victory over Teutopolis in high school volleyball action Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs won in two sets, 25-21, 25-17. Addi Nuxoll led in kills with five and digs with six. Cara Hatton had five blocked shots while Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with nine. St. Anthony improved to 12-7 on the season and is back in action Monday at Dieterich.

The  Wooden Shoes were led by Claresa Ruholl with 17 digs, Kaylie Jordan with eight assists and one ace, Elise Pals with two blocks and one ace and Gabby Tegler with three kills and one ace.T-town dropped to 14-5.

In the junior varsity match, T-town was a 25-18, 25-19 winner over St. Anthony to improve to 13-1 on the season.

At Teutopolis

At Taylorville

Taylorville played host to Effingham and sent the Hearts home with a 25-16, 25-20 loss.

EHS was led by Bella Austin and Mckenzie Love with five kills each. Berkley Pullen had one ace. Hanna Thompson led in assists with nine. Austin and Love had one block each. Alyssa Martin led in digs with 10.

EHS dropped to 16-6 on the season and doesn't return to action until next Thursday at Altamont.

Taylorville also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-23, 26-24. EHS dropped to 14-3. The Hearts also fell in the freshman match, 21-15, 21-8 to fall to 4-11.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed a National Trail Conference win over Neoga Thursday evening.

The Bobcats won the varsity match, 25-6, 25-17 to improve to 1-7 in the NTC, 9-10 overall.

CHBC was led by Ellie Miller with eight kills, Gracie Wright with four aces and eight assists, Kyleigh Wallace with three blocked shots and Birgen Schlanser with 18 digs.

The Bobcats also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-23 and the freshman/sophomore contest, 25-13, 25-16.

At Neoga

At Robinson

Newton improved to 19-5 on the season with a victory over Robinson. The Eagles won 25-17, 25-18 in Thursday evening action.

Hydi Bierman led in aces with three while Bailee Frichtl led in kills with six. Sally Mahaffey had 19 assists. Camryn Martin led in digs with six. Allie Stanley had three blocked shots.

In the junior varsity match, Newton was a winner 25-18, 25-23. The two teams split freshman/sophomore victories. Newton won 25-17 and Robinson won 15-9.

Newton is back in action Tuesday traveling to Mount Carmel.

At Louisville

Windsor/Steawrsdon-Strsaburg pushed its National Trail Conference record to 7-0 with a victory over North Clay (Louisville) Thursday.

The Hatchets won 25-14, 25-11. Maya Friese led in aces with three and kills with seven. Brinlie Durbin had 22 assists. Kinley Quast and Zaida Wascher finished with six digs each.

"Tonight North Clay's fans wore green and their team wore ribbons with Edie, Karly and Sienna's names," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Their programs also honroed the girls. It still amazes me how much love and support is shown to us. After a malfunction with the net that shortened the freshman/sophomore and junior varsity matches, we were able to get the varsity match in. Thanks to their fans for working hard to make that happen. It was much appreciated."

Windsor/Stew-Stras is 16-6 overall.

North Clay forfeited the junior varsity match and the two teams split the freshman/sophomore contests. North Clay won 25-10 and Windsor/Stew-Stras won 14-6.

The Hatchets are back in action Saturday with a match against Teutopolis.

Dieterich opened with a 26-24 win over Altamont in the first set Thursday evening.

But Altamont came back with 25-20, 25-19 victories for the match win.

The Indians were led by Grace Lemke with 11 kills and 17 digs, Makaylee Splechter with 20 assists and Riley Rippetoe with three aces.

Dieterich was led by Bailey McClain with four aces, Haezel Niemeyer with 14 digs and 11 kills, Ella Kreke with 20 assists and Bailey Brummer with five blocked shots.

Argenta-Oreana talied victories in both varsity and junior varsity play over Cumberland Thursday.

A-O won the varsity contest, 25-20, 25-21. Cumberland was led by Suzy Fritts with nine assists and two aces, Alysa Dittamore with five kills, MacKenzie Claybaugh with nine digs and Hannah Shoemaker and Dittamore with two blocked shots each.

Argenta-Oreana also won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 27-25. Cumberland dropped to 5-8.
