EHS Wins Charleston Tourney, Area Volleyball Roundup

The Hearts defeated Teutopolis, 25-18, 25-17 then won over Carbondale, 25-15, 25-11. EHS defeated Okaw Valley 25-10, 25-12 and downed Mattoon, 25-17, 25-18.
Sidney Donaldson and Bella Austin were named to the All-Tournament Team. Donaldson finished with seven kills, one 1 ace, one assists, seven blocks and six digs; Austin finished with 38 kills, three aces, four blocks and five digs.
Teutopolis competed at the invitational and fell to Effingham 25-16, 25-17 then won over Okaw Valley 25-17, 25-22, dropped a match to Carbondale, 25-18, 25-20 and won over Charleston 25-22, 25-15.
They finished third in their pool and then defeated Charleston in the third place crossover match.
The EHS junior varsity placed second in their pool at Terre Haute Braves Invitational. The Hearts won over Terre Huate Northm 21-25, 25-14, 15-12 then lost to Barr Reeve, 25-22, 25-19. The Hearts then beat Bloomington South, 18-25, 25-21, 15-10.

On Court Two, Waterloo defeated St. Anthony 25-11, 25-15, Mount Zion defeated Shelbyville 25-21, 25-22, Waterloo defeated Shelbyville, 25-16, 25-19, St. Anthony defeated Shelbyville 12-25, 25-21, 15-11 and Mount Zion defeated St. Anthony, 25-11, 25-19.
In crossover play, Unity defeated Waterloo 25-20, 28-26, Shelbyville defeated University 25-8, 25-15, Mount Zion defeated Newton 25-23, 19-25, 15-11 and St. Anthony defeated Triad 18-25, 25-14, 15-9.
In the championship, Mount Zion defeated Unity 25-19, 25-12. Newton claimed the third place match over Waterloo, 25-21, 25-21.

Flora Tournament
North Clay/Clay City claimed the championship of the Flora Tournament.
The Cardinals defeated Dieterich 25-18, 25-14 then downed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 25-18, 23-25, 15-5. North Clay/Clay City then defeated Flora 25-20, 26-24 and won over Cisne 25-16, 25-14 for the championship.
North Clay/Clay City is now 15-6 on the season.
Dieterich lost to North Clay 25-18, 25-14, won over Flora 23-25, 25-19, 15-8, beat Cisne 25-23, 25-12, lost to Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 18-25, 25-16, 15-10 and downed Martinsville, 25-16, 25-19 and is now 8-6 on the season.

Vandalia Tournament
South Central and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City competed in the Vandalia Tournament Saturday.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City finished fifth. The Bobcats lost to Hillsboro, 25-14, 25-16 then lost to East Alton-Wood River, 25-13, 21-25, 15-13. The Bobcats defeated Vandalia's JV 25-13, 25-13 and then won over South Central 25-23, 17-25, 15-9 for fifth place.
South Central went 1-3 for sixth place. The Cougars won over Vandalia 25-22, 22-25, 15-10 then lost to Carlyle 25-17, 25-20, Salem 25-10, 25-19 and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-23, 17-25, 15-9.
At New Berlin
Cumberland competed in the Ray Long Classic at New Berlin Friday and Saturday.
The Pirates fell to Athens in the opeNING match, 25-16, 25-9 and then lost to WesTville, 25-21, 25-18 Friday.
Cumberland then won over Southeast, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10.
Lutheran won over the Pirates 25-19, 25-17 and ended with a loss to Lutheran 21-25, 26-24, 15-12.

Altamont Junior Varsity Tournament
The Teutopolis freshmen/sophomores competed at the Altamont JV Tournament Satuday.
T-town defeated Mattoon 11-21, 21-15, 15-8 and won over Father McGivney 21-23, 21-16, 15-7 and downed Altamont 21-14, 21-14.
"We took 10 freshmen and two sophomores to Altamont and came away with three victories in three matches," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "It was a very impressive feat when you consider the other teams were predominately sophomores and juniors."
Windsor/Stew-Stras Junior Varsity Invitational
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Okaw Valley, 25-11, 25-6 in its junior varsity invitational Saturday.
The Hatchets then won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 25-22, 25-17 and won the championship over Sullivan, 25-19, 25-19.
"I'm very proud of how the girls played today," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Sullivan had beaten us earlier in the season so it was nice to take the win."
