COWDEN -- Effingham St. Anthony went two sets to hand Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a high school volleyball loss Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won 26-24, 25-17 to improve to 3-0 in the National Trail Conference, 6-4 overall.

Cara Hatton led St. Anthony in kills with six, aces with two and blocks with three. Addi Nuxoll led in digs with 14. Lilly Gananway led in aces with two. Nancy Ruholl had nine assists.

St. Anthony also claimed the junior varsity contest, 25-13, 25-9 and won the freshman/sophomore match, 25-21, 25-19.

The Bobcats were led by Ellie Miller with six kills, two aces and 15 digs, Haley Doty with eight assists, Birgen Schlanser with two aces and Kyleigh Wallace and Macee Rodman with one block each.

At Cowden

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown played host to Dieterich and won a match that went three sets Tuesday.

Dieterich claimed the opener 25-19 but SEB came back with 27-25 and 25-23 sets for the match.

SEB was led by Cordelia Lytle with 10 points and 20 digs, Addie Sasse with 19 assists and two blocked shots and Madi Miller with eight kills.

The Maroons were led by Ella Kreke with two aces and 13 assists, Kinli Michl with 28 digs, Marli Michl with 16 kills and Bailey Brummer with three blocked shots.

At St. Elmo

At Teutopolis

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg got back on track with a 25-16, 25-15 victory over Teutopolis in Tuesday action.

"After not playing so well last night, the girls were back in rhythm tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We had a few setbacks in the second set but was able to bounce back and take control of the game. It's always fun to play T-town. They always give us good competition."

Brinlie Durbin and Alaira Friese had two aces each for the winners. Mya  Friese led in kills with 12 and digs with seven. Kinley Quast also had seven digs. Durbin led in assists with 24. Brooke Schumacher had one solo blocked shot.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Madison Miller with five kills and one block, Katilyn Horn with one block, Elise Pals with one block, Claresa Ruholl with 11 digs and Gabby Tegler with one block. Sara Zumbahlen had six assists.

Teutopolis captured the junior varsity match, 25-23, 25-14 and won the freshman/sophomore match, 25-16, 25-18.

At Charleston

Newton handed Charleston losses in both varsity and junior varsity action Tuesday evening.

The Eagles won the varsity match, 25-18, 25-19 to improve to 11-4 on the season.

Stanley led in aces with two for the Eagles and had one block, Hermann finished with eight kills and 14 digs. Mahaffey had 19 assists. Bierman had one block.

In the junior varsity match, Newton was a winner 25-14, 24-26, 25-15.

The Eagles return to action Thursday against Casey-Westfield.

At Charleston

Cumberland fell to Heritage in the varsity contest Tuesday evening.

The Pirates lost the in two sets, 25-21, 25-20.

Suzy Fritts led in assists with nine while Alyssa Dittamore led in kills with seven. Hannah Shoemaker had three blocked shots. Mia Holsapple and Dittamore had one ace each. Maddy McElravy led in digs with five.

In the junior varsity match, Cumberland was a winner, 24-26, 25-20, 15-10 to improve to 3-4.
