Effingham played host to Teutopolis and sent the Wooden Shoes home with a varsity volleyball loss Monday evening.

But the Hearts had to fight, winning the opening set 25-14 before T-town came back with a 25-22 victory. The Hearts then won the match 25-16 to improve to 7-4 on the season.

Bella Austin led the way in kills for EHS with 14. Alyssa Martin had four aces. Hanna Thompson led in assists with 17. Sidney Donaldson led in blocks with four. Bria Beals had 10 digs.

Teutopolis was led by Paige Swingler with nine digs and eight points, Gabby Tegler with eight kills, Sara Zumbahlen with 12 assists and two aces and Madison Miller with two blocks. The Wooden Shoes drop to 10-4 on the season.

Teutopolis was a winner in the junior varsity match, 29-27, 25-19 and also claimed a freshman/sophomore match, 26-24, 25-15.

At Altamont

South Central handed Altamont a loss in two sets, 25-22, 25-20 Monday evening.

The Cougars were led by Bailey Wodtka with eight kills, Jalynn Mitchell wth 12 digs and one ace and River Yingst with 18 assists.

South Central improved to 6-6 in varsity action.

In the junior varsity contest, Altamont was a winner 25-18, 26-26 and South Central claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-20, 25-8.

South Central dropped to 4-3 in junior varsity play and 3-1-1 in freshman/sophomore play. The Cougars aren't back in action until heading to the Vandalia Tournament Saturday.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg handed Sullivan a varsity loss in action Monday evening.

The Hatchets were 25-18, 29-27 winners and improved to 6-4 on the season. Brinlie Durbin, Mya Friese, Ellie Wittenberg and Alaira Friese had one ace each. Friese had eight kills and 10 digs. Kinley Quast also had 10 digs. Durbin led in assists with 23 and had one solo block. Brooke Schumacher led in block assists with three.

"We definitely didn't play our game tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Maybe we are still recovering from the weekend, I don't know. But I do know we are going to have to snap back into gear for Teutopolis tomorrow night. We want to thank Sullivan for bringing flowers for the team in honor of Edie, Karly and Sienna. They are also mourning club teammates and feel the loss that we do."

Sullivan was a winner in the junior varsity match, 25-19, 24-26, 15-11. The two teams split freshman/sophomore sets. Sullivan won 25-22 and Windsor/Stew-Stra won 28-26.

Dieterich fell in the opening set against Mulberry Grove by a 25-18 count but came back with 25-17, 25-20 scores for the win Monday.

The Movin' Maroons were led by Ella Kreke in aces with two, Kinli Michl with 13 digs, Marli Michl with 11 kills and Bailey Brummer with 19 assists.

St. Elmo/Brownstown handed Ramsey a loss in Monday evening action.

The Eagles won 25-20, 25-17. Addie Sasse and Maya Barker had two aces each. Peyton Barker led in points with eight. Presley Williams and Madi Miller had four kills each. Sasse led in blocked shot with one and assists with eight. Barker had nine digs.

Macon Meridian came calling and handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a loss in varsity play, 25-21, 25-16 Monday evening..

CHBC was led by Ellie  Miller and Kyleigh Wallace with three kills each. Miller had one ace. Gracie Wright led in assists with five. Macee Rodman had 13 digs. Allison Shields and Addison Wasson had one blocked shot each.

The Bobcats drop to 4-3 on the season and return to action tonight against Effingham St. Anthony.

In the junior varsity  match, the Bobcats were winners 21-25, 25-15, 25-18. Meridian won the freshman/sophomore match, 25-7, 25-15.
