Effingham JV Wins Champaign Central Tournament; Other Weekend Scores

Effingham won the Champaign Central JV Tournament Saturday.

Effingham defeated Lincoln 25-12, 25-19; downed Champaign Central 25-17, 25-16; and won over Peoria Notre Dame 25-18, 25-21. Effingham's JV squad improved to 7-0 with the tournament sweep.

Altamont hosted a tournament Saturday and finished second in the competition.

Altamont went 6-0 as did Nokomis. Nokomis won the title match 25-17, 25-19. Greenville finished third with a win over Armstrong. Heritage finished fifth with a win over Vandalia, and Cerro Gordo finished seventh with a win over Cumberland.

In pool play, Altamont 6-0, Greenville 4-2, and Cerro Gordo and Cumberland each 1-5. In the other pool, Nokomis 6-0, Armstrong and Heritage each 3-3, and Vandalia 0-6.

St. Anthony competed in the Olney Tournament and finished fourth.

The Bulldogs beat Olney 25-1, 25-17; beat Hut-Pal 25-22, 25-22; lost to ALAH 25-22, 10-25, 15-11; lost to Fairfield 25-18, 25-18; and lost to Newton 25-13, 25-12. The wins came in pool play; the final three matches were in gold bracket action.
