Nancy Ruholl led the Bulldogs in digs with 13 and assists with eight. Addi Nuxoll had seven kills, Sophia Emmerich finished with five blocked shots and Cara Hatton six aces.
South Central was led by Reagan Roberts with 13 assists and 10 digs while Maddie Peddicord had five kills. May Schaal had one blocked shot. Jalynn Mitchell, Lauren Johnson, Schaal and Roberts had one ace each.
The Bulldogs' junior varsity team was a winner 25-19, 25-15.
South Central's freshman/sophomore team won 25-23, 25-17.

At Newton
Effingham pushed its young record to 2-0 on the season with a victory over Newton Thursday.
The Hearts won the varsity match, 26-24, 21-25, 25-21. Bria Beals led in kills with nine. Mckenzie Love had two aces. Hanna Thompson led in assists with 18. Sidney Donaldson had three blocked shots. Bella Austin led in digs with 12.
Newton was led by Allie Hermann with three aces and 14 digs, Sally Mahaffey with 16 assists and Isabel Meinhart with two blocks. The Eagles are back in action Saturday in the Fairfield Tournament.
In junior varsity action, Effingham was a 27-25, 25-23 winner and also improved to 2-0.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg opened the season with a 25-8, 25-9 victory over Moweaqua Central A&M Thursday.
"We want to thank Central A&M for their love and support tonight as we remembered Edie, Sienna and Karly," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "It was an emotional night starting the season without them by our side, but it was made easier in the presence of friends. The tribute was a special touch that we appreciate so much."
Mya Friese led the Hatchets with six aces and three kills. Samantha Hayes, Brook Schumacher and Colby McCormick had had three kills each. Brinlie Durbin led in assists with 15. Kinley Quast had seven digs. Schumacher had a solo block and four assists.
Central A&M won the junior varsity match, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23. Windsor/Stew-Stras claimed the freshman/sophomore contest, 25-19, 25-11.

Presley Williams, Chloe Austin and Avree Strobel had four kills each. Strobel led in points with eight. Maya Barker and Peyton Barker had one ace each. Addie Sasse led in assists with seven, digs with six and assists with seven. Williams also had six digs.

Dieterich traveled to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and captured the varsity contest.
The Maroons won the opening set 26-24 but Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City took the second set, 25-17. Dieterich then won the match, 25-22.
Marli Michl led the Maroons with three aces, 15 digs and 15 kills. Ella Kreke led in assists with 23. Kinli Michl had three aces and Allie Uthell led in blocks with one.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was led by Haley Doty with three aces and 12 assists, Kyleigh Wallace with seven kills and three blocks and Birgen Schlanser with 17 digs.
The Bobcats won the junior varsity match 25-14, 25-21. The two teams split freshman/sophomore play as CHBC won the opener 25-13 before Dieterich took the second set 25-21.

Salem came calling and handed Teutopoils a varsity defeat Thursday evening.
The Wildcats won 25-23, 25-22. Leading Teutopolis were Megan Brummer with three blocks, Claresa Ruholl with 14 digs, Paige Swingler with two aces, Gabby Tegler with five kills and Sara Zumbahlen with nine assists.
T-town drops to 2-1 on the season.
In the junior varsity match, T-town was a winner. Salem won the opener 25-21 but T-town came back with 25-21, 25-20 scores for the victory.
