Cumberland Wins Volleyball Match

MARTINSVILLE -- Cumberland High School claimed a victory over Martinsville in a Pink Out volleyball match Wednesday.

The Pirates won 25-21 in the opening set then fell 25-20. The Pirates then won the match 25-23.

Alysa Dittamore had a big overall game with 11 assists, 14 kills, one block, seven aces and one dig.

Suzy Fritts finished with 13 assists. Leah Gray had 12 digs. Mia Holsapple and Hannah Shoemaker had two blocked shots each.

Martinsville won the junior varsity match, 12-25, 25-19, 15-10.

Cumberland has a 1-1 record and returns to action Tuesday against Charleston on Senior Night.
