In the Class 1A Martinsvile Regional, three area teams advanced.
Sigel St. Michael, the top seed, won over Mattoon St. John's 25-18, 25-11.
In the second contest, Newton St. Thomas downed Stewardson-Strasburg, 25-17, 25-19. Stew-Stras ended the season with a 10-12 record. Zoey Conder had seven aces, three digs and six kills. Anna Brown led in assists with four.
"This group has grown so much from day one, that even though it's not the way or when we anticipated to end the season, they have so much to be proud of," said Coach Courtney Wittenberg. "For many, this was the first true season of volleyball they have experienced and what a coachable, fun-loving, outstanding character group of girls this is. They will only continue to improve and I can't wait to see their confidence continue to increase and their knowledge of the game explode."
"Last Wednesday our eighth-grade team took home the NTC championship title. This team is so deserving of this for their eye has been on this title for the past two years. I'm so proud of how they battled and their team chemistry shone bright."
Stew-Stras defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-9, 25-6, North Clay, 25-23, 25-14 and South Central in the title match 25-18, 25-18.
Neoga, the second seed, was a winner over Windsor, 25-20, 25-8 while the final contest went to Martinsville, the third seed, over Effingham Sacred Heart, 25-17, 25-5.
Sigel St. Michael and Newton St. Thomas will meet tonight at 4:30 while Neoga takes on Martinsville around 5:30.
Class 1A Martinsville Regional
Stewardson-Strasburg -- Brown, 1 ace, 4 assists, 1 kill; Helmink, 1 ace, 1 kill; Conder, 7 aces, 3 digs, 2 assists, 6 kills; Spour, 2 digs, 1 assist; Carroll, 1 kill; Vonderheide, 1 ace, 2 digs; McCormick, 2 assists, 3 kills.
NTC Tournament

Class 2A Oblong Regional
Two area teams were defeated in the 2A Oblong Regional Saturday.
Dieterich fell to Oblong, 25-16, 25-12 in the opening match. The second contest went to Edwards County (Albion) over Hutsonville 25-23, 25-13. Effingham St. Anthony then fell to Casey-Westfield, 25-17, 25-20.
Today's contests feature top-seeded North Clay (Louisville) against Oblong at 4:30 followed by Edwards County taking on Casey-Westfield at 5:30.
Class 3A Robinson Nuttall Regional
Teutopolis advanced in this regional. The Wooden Shoes, seeded second, won over Cumberland, 25-12, 25-9.
In other matches, Lawrenceville Parkview downed Red Hill (Bridgeport), 25-16, 25-18 and Marshall beat Robinson Nuttall, 25-20, 25-21.
Jasper County, the top seed, will meet Lawrenceville Parkview today at 6 p.m. followed by Teutopolis taking on Marshall at 7:15.
Class 4A Rochester Regional
Sixth-seeded Effingham saw its season come to a close at the Rochester Regional.
The Mustangs fell to third-seeded Chatham Glenwood, 25-8, 25-18.
Mount Zion defeated Mattoon 25-17, 25-16 while Rochester won over Stephen Decatur 25-11, 25-11.
Today's matches feature top-seeded Taylorville against Mount Zion at 5:30 p.m. followed by Rochester meeting Chatham Glenwood at 6:45.
