WINDSOR -- Effingham St. Anthony defeated Windsor in both junior high volleyball matches Monday evening.

The Bullpups were winners in the seventh-grade contest, 25-12, 25-19.

Leading St. Anthony were Nora Niebrugge with three assists, Cheyenne Barker with nine aces and Carly Budde, Ava Hendrickson, Barker and Sydney Stephens with one kill each.

In the eighth-grade match, St. Anthony was a winner, 25-16, 25-19.

Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with six and aces with five while Claire Kinikelaar had three kills and Reese Hoene two digs.

At Windsor

Seventh-Grade Match

St. Anthony -- Denning, 1 assist; Budde, 1 kill, 2 aces; Hendrickson, 1 kill, 1 ace; Niebrugge, 3 assiss, 1 ace; Littz, 5 aces; Barker, 1 kill, 9 aces; Stephens, 1 kill, 5 aces

Eighth-Grade Match

St. Anthony -- Semple, 1 dig; Schumacher, 1 kill; Hoene, 1 kill, 2 digs, 4 aces; Gilmore, 6 asssts, 1 dig, 5 aces; Douht, 1 assist, 1 ace; Kinkelaar, 3 kills, 1 dig; Fearday, 2 kills; Brant, 1 ace; Jansen, 3 aces

 

At Effingham

Jasper County picked up two wins over Effingham in volleyball action Monday.

Jasper County was a winner in the seventh-grade match, 26-24, 25-13 to improve to 9-1.

S. Meinhart led in aces with eight. J. Stanley led in assists with four, kills with two and blocks with one and L. Thomann led in digs with two.

In the eighth-grade match, Jasper County won 26-24, 25-14 and is now also 9-1.

T. Jones led in aces with three for the winners. S. Schackmann led in kills with four. E. Inyart had seven assists and J. Reich led in digs with five.

Jasper County is back in action today at Martinsville.

At  Effingham

Seventh-Grade Match

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis fell to Taylorville in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Monday.

The Wooden Shoes lost in the seventh-grade match. Taylorville won 25-22 before T-town took the second set 25-12. Taylorville then won the match 25-11.

Rose Brummer led T-town with eight kills while Faith Ruholl had three aces.

In the eighth-grade match, Taylorville was a winner in the opening set 27-25. T-town came back to take the second set 25-15 but lost the match in the third set 25-20.

Cevilla Donsbach led in aces with three and Addie Meyer had five kills.

At Teutopolis

Seventh-Grade Match

Teutopolis -- Brummer, 8 kills; Tegler, 1 ace, 2 kills; Ruholl, 3 aces, 1 kill; Deters, 1 kill; Martin, 1 kill; Niebrugge, 1 kill

Eighth-Grade Match

Teutopolis -- Donsbach, 3 aces, 1 kill; Meyer, 1 ace, 5 kills; Isley, 2 aces, 1 kill; Niemerg, 1 ace, 2 kills; Willenborg, 1 ace, 1 kill; Bloemer, 2 aces, 1 kill, Einhorn, 1 kill

 

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) defeated Clay City in both matches Monday.

North Clay was a winner in seventh-grade action, 25-12, 25-13 and won the eighth-grade contest, 25-6, lost the second set 25-22 but won the match 15-10.

North Clay is back in action Tuesday at Sigel St. Michael at 5:15 p.m.

 

At Dieterich

Dieterich captured two victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in junior high volleyball action Monday.

Dieterich won the seventh-grade match, 25-21, 25-14.

CHBC was led by Lyric Bennett with 13 points, six aces and one dig, Natalie Tucker with two assists, Harper Lilly with two kills and one dig and Raylee Martin with one dig.

"We continue to struggle to be consistent wtih our play," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "In addition, the serving for this match was 72%."

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich won 25-20, 25-23.

CHBC was led by Jordyn Wright with 10 points and four aces, Jayla Arnett with four assists, Ethel Stuckemeyer with five kills and two blocks and Allison Shields with five digs.

"While these girls hit 91% of their serves, we struggled with serve receive and let Dieterich get some runs on us," said Coach Jefferies.
