Teutopolis claimed both seventh- and eighth-grade victories over Mattoon in junior high volleyball action Friday.

The Wooden Shoes defeated Mattoon 25-15, 25-19 to improve to 8-0 in sevenh-grade.

Faith Ruholl led the team with six aces, Lilly Tegler with seven kills and Rose Brummer and Bella Niebrugge with a block and two kills each.

The eighth-grade team won 25-17, 25-22 to run their record to 7-1. They were led by Cecilia Donsbach and Emma Isley with three aces each, Ella Wittenberg with two aces, six digs and two kills and Allison Niemerg with a block and two kills.

Monday evening, the Wooden Shoes fell to Newton 15-25, 25-15, 19-17 to suffer their first loss of the seventh-grade season and are now 8-1.

Niebrugge had four aces, five kills and six digs. Jenna Beckman had two aces while Tegler had three aces, two kills, two digs and two assists. Brummer finished with eight digs and three kills. Lexie Hoene and Jolie Deters had two kills each, Addelyn Calkins two aces and Ruholl had one ace, one kill and five digs.

In the eighth-grade match, T-town was a winner over Newton, 25-17, 25-17 and is now 8-1.

CeCe Passalacqua had three digs, Willenborg 14 digs, one ace and one kill, Addison Meyer eight digs, three kills and two aces, Donsbach four digs, three aces, three assists and four kills, Isley two digs, one ace and one kill, Kiley Bloemer one kill and one ace and Niemerg nine digs and four kills.

 

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Neoga split victories in junior high volleyball Monday evening.

Neoga was a winner in the seventh-grade match. CHBC won the first set 25-17 but Neoga came back with 25-16, 25-24 scores for the match.

Lyric Bennett led CHBC in points with 14, aces with seven and digs with five. Cadence Dunn led in blocks with two. Harper Lilly and Natalie Tucker had one assist each.

"We were mising one of our starting middles but the girls were still able to figure out their rotations," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "They served exceptionally well in the first game and then struggled in the following two. It is fun to watch their reactions when they make a great play. They are getting a bit better with each game. I can't wait for them to get a bit more consistent."

In eighth-grade play, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner 25-11, 25-9. Brylie Prater led in points with 12 and digs with three.Ethel Stuckemeyer led in aces with three. Stuckemeyer and Jayla Arnett had one assist each. Carissa Wakfield led in kills with two and blocks with one.

At St Peter

North Clay (Louisvile) defeated St. Peter Lutheran in sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade action.

North Clay won the sixth-grade match, but no scores were reported.

North Clay claimed the seventh-grade match, 25-14, 25-5 and won the eighth-grade contest, 25-16, 25-18 and is now 3-2 on the season.
