The Mustangs captured the seventh-grade match. Effingham won the opener 25-17 before St. Anthony took the second set 25-19. Effingham then won the match 25-23.
April Martin led in kills with eight and digs with three for the Mustangs. Alayna Wade had six assists and Tylee Johnson finished with 10 aces.
St. Anthony was led by Cheyenne Barker with four kills and one block, Sydney Stephens and Hannah Frisbie with two digs each and Nora Niebrugge with 11 aces.
In the eighth-grade match, Effingham was a winner 25-13, 25-23. The Mustangs were led by Emery Spicer with four kills and five digs; Seatyn Althoff with seven assists and Alaina MIller, Madilyn Summers and Keagyn Koenig with four aces each.
The Mustangs are back in action Thursday at Dieterich at 4 p.m.
The Bullpups were led by Madelyn Gilmore with six assists, one block and five aces and Sylvie Schumacher and Claire Kinkelaar with two digs each.

At Teutopolis
Stewardson-Strasburg and Teutopolis split victories Thursday evening.
T-town was a winner in the seventh-grade match, 25-11, 25-16. Stew-Stras dropped to 3-4 while the Wooden Shoes improved to 7-0.
Stew-Stras was led by Zoey Conder with four digs and five kills, Anna Brown with three assists and Brooklyn Spour with four digs. Cami Helmink and Mila Carroll had one each each.
In the eighth-grade match, Stew-Stras handed T-town its first loss of the season, 25-22, 26-28, 25-22 to improve to 6-0.
Stew-Stras leaders were Karly Wetherell with eight digs, 14 kills and two blocks, Edie Wittenberg led in aces with two, assists with 17 and had two blocks. Ava Harris also had two blocks.
T-town is back in action today at Mattoon.
At Teutopolis

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick/Beedher City fell to Ramsey in both matches Thursday.
Ramsey claimed the seventh-grade contest, 25-15, 25-19.
CHBC was led by Natalie Tucker with six points, Harper Lilly with two aces and one assist and Sophie Zumbahlen with one kill and one digs.
"These girls are still struggling to be consistent with their transitions," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "They did a much better job with their serving, but we need to be able to have a stronger, cohesive offense."
In the eighth-grade match, Ramsey won the opener 25-18 but CHBC came back to take the second set 25-20. Ramsey then won the match 25-19.
CHBC was led by Allison Shields with nine points, one ace and one dig; Ethel Stuckemeyer with one ace, three assists and four blocks; Brylie Prater with three kills and Jordyn Wright with one dig.
"The eighth-graders lacked the drive to pull out a win tonight," said Coach Jefferies. "Ramsey has a good team and we only made 77% of our serves. These girls have such potential, but they need to pull together for a whole match."
At Cowden
