STRASBURG -- Stewardson-Strasburg put two junior high volleyball victories on the board with wins over Altamont Tuesday evening.

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade match, 25-16, 25-7 to improve to 4-2. 

Leading the winners were Anna Brown with five assists, Brooklyn Spour with three kills and Libby Musson with six aces.

In the eighth-grade match, Stew-Stras won 25-13, 25-9 to remain unbeaten with a 6-0 record.

Edie Wittenberg led the winners in assists with five and kills with six. Jaelyn Howe had eight aces. Karly Wetherell had one block

Stew-Stras is back in action Thursday at Teutopolis.

At Strasburg

Seventh-Grade Match

Stewardson-Strasburg -- Brown, 2 aces, 5 assists; Helmink, 3 aces, 1 dig, 1 kill; Conder, 4 aces, 2 kills; Spour, 3 kills; Carroll, 1 assist, 2 kills; Vonderheide, 1 ace; McCormick, 2 aces; Musson, 6 aces

Eighth-Grade Match

Stewardson-Strasburg -- Wittenberg, 1 ace, 5 assists, 6 kills; Vonderheide, 5 aces, 1 dig, 1 kill; Wetherell, 4 aces, 2 digs, 3 kills, 1 block; Howe, 8 aces; Antrim, 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 kill; Harris, 1 assist; Conder, 1 kill

 

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) fell to Iuka in the eighth-grade match.

Iuka won 25-22, 25-16.

In the seventh-grade match, North Clay was a winner 25-22, 25-11.

North Clay isn't back in action until Monday at St. Peter Lutheran.

 

At Cowden

South Central handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City losses in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Tuesday.

In the seventh-grade match, CHBC won the opener 25-18 but South Central took the match 25-18, 25-16.

Leading CHBC were Harper Lilly with 10 points, four aces, one assist and one dig, Lyric Bennett with four aces and one dig, Natalie Tucker with one dig and one assist and Sophie Zumbahlen with three kills.

"We started off strong and had some great rallies," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "Unfortunately, one of my setters was injured and I took her out. The team still played well, but we had to change up both our offense and defense."

In eighth-grade play, South Central won 25-15, 22-25, 25-15.

CHBC was led by Allison Shields with 17 points, two aces and four digs, Ethel Stuckemeyer with two aces and three kills and Carissa Wakefield with one block.

"This was an off/on night," said Coach Jefferies. "They have moments where they played so well together and moments where they struggled. We missed more serves than we shoud have when playing a team of this caliber."

At Cowden
