Bulldogs, Wooden Shoes Claim Volleyball Wins

The Bulldogs won the varsity contest, 25-14, 25-10. Addie Wernsing led in assists with nine. Abbi Hatton had six kills while Nora Gannaway led in aces with four. Laney Coffin had two blocked shots.
St. Anthony also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-23.
At Effingham

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis and Newton squared off in Monday evening action and the two teams had a hard-fought varsity contest.
The Wooden Shoes won the opener 25-9 but Newton came back to take a 26-24 victory. T-town then claimed the match 25-18 to improve to 14-13 on the season.
"Keys to the match were we had no extended runs of unforced errors," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "In the third set, Newton closed the score to one when Sara Zumbahlen had a setter attack for a sideout which quickly became a much larger lead.
"That was the best we've played from start to finish in a match this year. We passed well all match and that meant we could run an offense and our hitters made good choices all night."
Claresa Ruholl led the Shoes in digs with 26, tying herself for second highest ever in a match. Emma Deters had four blocked shots. Sara Niemerg led in kills with 10. Sara Zumbahlen had 16 assists and RyLee Dittamore led in aces with two.
Newton was led by Schafer with 13 kills, 14 assists and 10 digs. Bennett, Stanley and Zumbahlen had one ace each. Kessler and Stanley led in blocks with one each. The Eagles drop to 16-11 on the season.
Newton was a winner in the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-20. T-town drops to 23-6.
The Shoes were led by Madison Miller in kills with 12. Kaylie Jordan led in assists with 15. Olivia Cates had 10 digs while Paige Swingler led in aces with two. Megan Brummer had one block.
T-town and Newton each won in freshman play. The Shoes claimed a 25-21 win while the Eagles won 25-17. T-town is now 14-6-3.
T-town is back in action today hosting Altamont in a Pink Out Match.
Newton isn't back in competition until Thursday against Olney, also a Pink Out Match.

Casey-Westfield tallied a victory over Cumberland Monday evening. The Warriors won 25-19, 25-19.
Cumberland was led by Alyssa Dittamore with seven assists, Charlee Thornton with five kills and Alyssa Dittamore with seven digs. Katelyn Shoemaker, H. Shoemaker and Thornton had one block each. McKenzie Matteson, Katelyn Haarmann, K. Shoemaker and Dittamore had one ace each.
The Pirates drop to 12-16 on the season.
In junior varsity action, no scores were listed.
