Effingham St. Anthony handed visiting Dieterich a varsity loss in two sets, 25-18, 25-11 in volleyball action Monday.

The Bullldogs were led by Cara Hatton with six kills, Andrea Rudolphi, Addie Wernsing and Hailey Niebrugge with two aces each. Maddy Kibler had 10 digs. Anna Niemeyer led in blocks with two. Stacey Vonderheide had 15 assists.

St. Anthony now sports a 16-5 record.

The Bulldogs also claimed the junior varsity match. They lost the opener 25-17 before taking 25-17, 25-15 scores for the match.

At Altamont

Altamont played host to Vandalia and had to duke it out with the Vandals. The Indians went three matches to take the victory Monday.

Altamont won the opener 25-13 before Vandalia came back to take the second set, 25-21. Altamont then won a hard-fought battle, 26-24.

Peyton Osteen, Libby Reardon and Della Berg had two aces each. Grace Lemke and Berg led in kills with six each. Brianna Grunloh had nine digs. P. Osteen had nine assists. The Indians finished with nine blocks led by Lemke and Kylie Osteen with three each.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner in the varsity and junior varsity matches over Patoka Monday.

The Bobcats won the varsity matchup, 25-15, 25-9 to improve to 7-13 on the season.

Karlee Smith and Ellie Miller finished with five kills each. Miller led in aces with three. Marissa Summers had 15 assists. Smith and Kyleigh Wallace had one block each. Birgen Schlanser led in digs with six.

CHBC lost the opener 25-8 in junior varsity play but came back with 25-19, 25-20 wins for the match.

At Beecher City

At Argenta

The Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament got underway at Argenta-Oreana High School Monday.

Unity Christian won over Cumberland, while Villa Grove downed Blue Ridge.

Cerro Gordo/Bement defeated Argenta-Oreana and Heritage beat Tri-County.

Today's matches include Cumberland against Arcola and Argenta-Oreana taking on ALAH at 7, both in consolation bracket play at the junior high school.

In winner bracket play, Unity Christian meets Villa Grove at 6 and Cerro Gordo/Bement takes on Heritage at 7 at the high school gym.
