Effingham St. Anthony played host to Teutopolis and sent the Wooden Shoes home with a varsity volleyball loss Thursday.

The Bulldogs won in two sets, 25-14, 25-14. Andrea Rudolphi led the winners in kills with seven. Hailey Niebrugge and Maddie Kibler had two aces each. Addie Wernsing finished with 14 assists. Anna Niemeyer led in blocks with two.

"We were unable to pass or play defense effectively, giving up seven aces and seven overpassed serves," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "Sometimes you want to win really bad, you get amped up. When that happens, sometimes finesse skills like passing suffers from the adrenaline. That happened tonight which is a pity given that when we were able to hit a ball, we were doing well. It was great though to have our students travel for the game. I think we had a larger student section than the host school. Now, I just want us to get healthy so that we're back at full strength for the homestretch."

The Shoes were led by Claresa Ruholl with nine digs, RyLee Dittamore with six kills and one ace, Sara Zumbahlen with five assists and TaNeal Einhorn, Molly Pals and Sara Niemerg with one block each.
