Effingham St. Anthony picked up a high school volleyball victory over Altamont in Tuesday evening competition.

The Bulldogs won in two sets, 25-12, 25-14. Andrea Rudolphi led the way in kills with nine and aces with three. Anna Niemeyer had two blocked shots. Addie Wernsing led in assists with 17. Abbi Hatton was the leader in digs with nine.

St. Anthony also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-13. The two teams split in freshman/sophomore play. The Indians claimed the first set 25-23 and St. Anthony took the second set 25-16.

At Altamont

At Mount Zion

Effingham claimed an Apollo Conference win over Mount Zion Tuesday evening.

The Hearts opened with a tough-fought 28-26 win the in the opening set. The Braves fought back with a 25-23 second set. The Hearts then won the match, 25-17.

Bella Austin led in digs with 15 and had 10 kills. Bria Beals led in kills with 11 and in blocked shots with two. She also finished with 11 digs. Berkley Pullen and Hannah Thompson had 13 assists each. Thompson led in aces with six. 

"Hannah served really well in game three," said EHS Coach Laurie Bohnhoff. "Bella and Bria both hit great tonight."

Mount Zion as a winner in junior varsity play, 26-28, 25-17, 15-12. Averie Wolf led in aces with two and digs with 23. Cami Burgholzer had eight assists. Mckenzie Love led in kills with eight. Reaghan Delong led in blocked shots with three.

The Hearts won in freshman/sophomore action, 24-22, 22-24, 15-10.

EHS is back in action Thursday against Taylorville.

At Mount Zion

At Strasburg

It was Pink Out Night at Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg where the Hatchets tallied a 25-12, 25-5 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

Ella Kinkelaar led the Hatchets in four categories. Kinkelaar had three aces, 22 assists, 4 digs and 1 block assist. Gabby Vonderheide had 11 kills. Halle Moomaw also had three aces and one block assist. Kinley Quast had four digs.

"Tonight we had our Pink Out," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "It's a game where we donate the proceeds to our athletic director and his wife, Brian and Deena Lee. Deena was recenlty diagnosed with breast cancer and has taken on this courageous fight with the backing of this school family and community. We wish them the very best."

Windsor/Stew-Stras improved to 6-0 in the National Trail Conference and 17-4 overall.

CHBC was led by Karlee Smith, Kyleigh Wallace and Sarah Doedtman had one kill each. Marissa Summers had one assist. Ellie Miller and Birgen Schlanser had three digs each.

In the junior varsity match, Windsor/Stew-Stras took a 26-24, 25-21 win and is 14-0 on the season. Alaira Friese led in aces with six and kills with seven. Brinlie Durbin had 10 assists. Zaida Wascher led in digs with seven. Brooke Schumacher one solo block.

The Hatchets also claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-12, 25-22 and is 5-2-8.

At Strasburg

At Dieterich

Teutopolis swept through, garnering three victories over Dieterich Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the varsity contest, 25-15, 25-19 and moved above the .500 level at 12-11.

"Key was serving from freshman Kaley Jordan taking Dieterich out of their offense and permitting Rylee Dittamore and Emma Deters to score quick kills while building an early first set lead that we did not relinquish," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "Tonight we played like we knew we let yesterday get away which was unfortunate for Dieterich.

"I thought Kaley Jordan had a good night with seven aces. It's the third all-time for a single match in school history, tied with Savannah Grimes 2016 match while filling in for an injured player and our hitters made good choices with location and tempo."

The Shoes were led by Emma Deters with three blocks and eight kills, Kaley Jordan with 11 assists and seven aces and Claresa Ruholl with seven digs.

In junior varsity competition, T-town was a winner, 25-15, 25-13 and improved to 17-4. Madison Miller had six kills, Olivia Gardewine four aces, Gabby Tegeler eight digs, Elise Pals one block and Kaley Jordan nine assists.

The Shoes also won the freshman match, 25-12, 25-11 and is 9-4.

At Dieterich

Newton handed Vandalia a loss in varsity, junior varsity and freshman action Tuesday.

The Eagles claimed the varsity match, 25-17, 25-14 and improved to 14-9. Martin led the Eagles in aces with two. Zumbahlen had 11 kills while Schafer led in assists with 17. Kessler had two blocked shots and Bennett led in digs with 11.

In the junior varsity match, Newton was a winner 25-23, 25-9 and also won the freshman contest 21-18, 21-16.

Newton is back in action Thursday hosting Robinson.

At Vandalia

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown fell to Oblong in volleyball action Tuesday.

Oblong claimed a 25-18, 25-20 win for the match.

Leading SEB were Kinley Carson in aces with three and points with 13. She also had six assists and five digs. Annie Stine and Peyton Garrard also had five digs each. Stine led in kills with four.

At St. Elmo

Arcola came calling and downed Cumberland 25-22, 25-11 in varsity competition Tuesday.

The Pirates were led by Megan Yaw with six assists, Katelyn Shoemaker with four kills and two blocks and Katelyn Haarmann with two aces and seven digs.

Cumberland won the junior varsity match, 25-27, 25-9, 15-9.

Leah Gray led in assists with 10, Mia Holsapple had seven kills, seven digs and one block and Alyssa Dittamore had five aces and seven digs.

At Toledo
