EHS, St. A, T-town, Altamont, WSS Nab Volleyball Wins

The Hearts went into the contest with a 2-1 conference mark while the Bulldogs were 3-0. But EHS easily handled Mahomet-Seymour by 25-22, 25-18 counts and moved into a tie atop the conference standings at 3-1.
EHS stands at 13-5 on the season while Mahomet-Seymour is now 14-4.
Bria Beals led the way in kills for the Hearts with 11 and digs with five. Hannah Thompson had 14 assists and five digs. Reaghan Delong led in aces with three and blocks with two.
In junior varsity action, Mahomet-Seymour pulled out a three set victory. The Hearts won 25-12 but Mahomet-Seymour came back with a tough 35-33 win and took the match 15-9.
EHS was led by Alyssa Martin with nine kills and four aces, Mckenzie Love and Ashlyn Davis with two blocks each and Averie Wolfe with 20 digs.
The Hearts claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 21-12, 15-21, 15-14.
EHS is back in action Thursday at Mattoon.

Effingham St. Anthony tallied all three victories over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs won the varsity matchup, 25-13, 25-14. Abbi Hatton had two aces and led in kills with seven and blocks with three. Addi Nuxoll also had two aces. Addie Wernsing led in assists with 15 and had two aces.
The junior varsity squad won 25-16, 25-20 while the freshman/sophomore team won the opener 25-15, lost the second match, 25-20 but claimed the contest 15-10.
At St. Elmo

At Teutopolis
Teuotpolis swept through all three matches to win over Pana Tuesday evening.
The Wooden Shoes won the varsity contest, 25-17, 25-19 to improve to 11-10.
"After a hitting error in the first set, RyLee Dittamore pounded consecutive kills through a solid Pana block to take the lead 2-1. We led from that point on. We put a full match together against a good team.
:Statistically we had some players not getting kills, not getting aces, but we were being aggressive and it kept Pana on their heels which meant they were making errors or giving us freeballs which we got to our hot hitters. Danielle Probst did a good job tonight with her hitter selection."
TaNeal Einhorn and Dittamore had four kills each. Einhorn added four blocks. Probst led in assists with eight. Claresa Ruholl had nine digs. Emma Deters and Sara Niemerg had two aces each.
In the junior varsity match, T-town was a winner 24-26, 25-19, 25-19 and improved to 15-4. Leading the Shoes were Madison Miller with eight kills, Kaley Jordan with 14 assists and six aces, Elise Pals with six blocks and Olivia Cates with nine digs.
In the freshman match, the Shoes won 25-13, 25-23 and are 7-2.

Altamont lost the opener to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City as two National Trail Conference teams met but came back for the win.
CHBC was a 25-20 winner while the Indians won 25-17, 25-20.
Grace Lemke led Altamont in aces with four, kills with six and blocks with five. Maya Moore and Bella Holinshead had six kills each. Brianna Grunloh led in digs with five. Peyton Osteen had nine assists.
Three players had four kills each for CHBC and that included Karlee Smith, Marissa Summers and Kyleigh Wallace. Ellie Miller led in aces with three. Summers had 11 assists. Smith led in blocks with four. Birgen Schlanser had 18 digs.
Altamont also claimed the junior varsity contest, 25-15, 25-16. CHBC was a winner in freshman/sophomore action, 16-25, 25-18, 13-12.
At Cowden

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg downed Neoga in two sets, 25-9, 25-8. The Hatchets improved to 5-0 in the National Trail Conference, 11-3 overall.
Ella Kinkelaar led the Hatchets in aces with three, assists with 18 and digs with four. Halle Moomaw had 12 kills and three block assists. Kinley Quast also had four digs.
"This was the first time the girls have looked ilke they were having fun since the first night of Crossroads so I had to let them play hard.," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We needed the momentum going into the Champaign Central Invite this weekend."
In the junior varsity contest, WSS was a winner 25-19, 25-17 and is now a perfect 12-0 on the season. Brinlie Durbin led in aces with four, assists with 12 and block assists with one. Brooke Schumacher led in kills with six and had one block assist. Zaida Wascher had nine digs.
The two teams split freshman/sophomore sets. Neoga won the opener 25-23 but WSS came back with a 25-14 win and is now 4-1-8.

Cumberland tallied a varsity win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond in Tuesday play.
The Pirates lost the opener 17-25 but came back with 25-13, 25-18 scores for the match.
Megan Yaw led in assists with four, Suzy Fritts, Hannah Shoemaker and Charlee Thornton had three kills each. Thornton had six blocks. Katelyn Shoemaker and Alyssa Dittamore had five aces each. Dittamore led in digs with eight.
Cumberland fell in the junior varsity contest, 25-19, 19-25, 15-9. Dittamore led in assists with seven and digs with four. Mia Holsapple led in kills with five, blocks with four and digs with eight.
