St. Joseph-Ogden captured a varsity win over Teutopolis in Thursday play, 22-25, 25-21, 25-15.
"The key moment was in the second set, a brief T-town run to take the lead was ended by a net violation and a succeeding hitting error on the next play. We could not get within three after that," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz.
"We played well but when you play quality programs, they recover from losing first sets. SJO is one of the top 2-A teams in the state. They have great outside hitters and can get the ball to them. We put too many freeballs to the middle of the court and they were able to run their offense effectively the last two-thirds of the night.
"With that said, we played hard, we improved on a couple of problem areas from last week and it was great to have a rowdy student section and their Hawaiian theme, so I'm looking forward to what they cook up for next week."
