Class 7-2A Oblong Regional
Effingham St. Anthony's season came to a close in the Oblong Regional.
The Bullpups won the opener 25-17 before Paris Crestwood came back with 25-16, 26-24 counts for the victory.
In the second match, Oblong downed North Clay (Louisville), Oblong took the opener 26-24 before North Clay came back with a 25-20 win. Oblong then claimed the match, 25-21.
Paris Crestwood and Oblong will meet for the regional championship today at 4:30 p.m. The winner advances to the St. Anthony Sectional Monday, March 6.
Class 7-2A Assumption Central A&M Regional
Two local teams in this regional advanced.
Stewardson-Strasburg downed Ramsey, 25-16, 25-9. The winners were led by Edie Wittenberg with five digs, five assists and three kills and Jackie Vonderheide with seven aces, five digs and three kills.
In the second match, South Central won over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-16, 25-18.
Stew-Stras will now meet South Central at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.
Class 2A Assumption Central A&M Regional
Stewardson-Strasburg -- Wittenberg, 1 ace, 5 digs, 5 assists, 3 kills; Vonderheide, 7 aces, 5 digs, 3 kills; Wetherell, 5 aces, 3 digs, 2 kills; Harris, 1 block, 1 kill; Antrim, 1 dig, 1 block; Howe, 2 digs; Reel, 6 aces; Conder, 2 assists
Class 7-4A Rochester Regional
Effingham's season came to a close in the Rochester Regional Monday.
The Mustangs fell to Rochester, 26-24, 25-17.
In the second match, Taylorville downed Mount Zion, 25-13, 25-15.
Rochester and Taylorville advance to the championship game Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Class 7-4A Rochester Regional
Effingham -- Althoff, 1 kill, 3 assists, 3 aces, 1 dig; Barnes, 2 kills; Cekander, 3 kills, 2 assists, 5 digs; Koenig, 5 kills, 2 aces; Maxedon, 1 assist; Miller, 1 kill, 4 assists, 5 digs; Poe, 1 ace; Spicer, 1 kill, 1 assist, 3 aces, 3 digs; Summers, 2 aces, 2 digs
Class 7-1A Martinsville Regional
Martinsville claimed the championship over Mattoon St. John's Monday evening.
Martinsville won 25-10, 25-9 and now advances to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Monday, March 6 to meet the winner of of the St. Michael Regional,
Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Sigel St. Michael and Newton St. Thomas advanced in the St. Michael Regional Monday.
The Sharpshooters defeated Effingham Sacred Heart, 25-12, 25-22.
St. Thomas won over West Salem, 25-17, 25-9.
St. Michael and St. Thomas will meet Thursday for the regional championship at 6 p.m.
