Effingham Junior High School downed Charleston in both seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball play Monday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match, 25-4, 25-23. Keagyn Koenig and Aubrey Poe led in kills with three each while Seatyn Althoff had four assists. Poe led in aces with five. Madilyn Summers had one block. Althoff led in digs with two.

In the eighth-grade match, Effingham was a winner but had to go three sets. The Mustangs won 25-17 before Charleston took the second set 25-22. Effingham then won the match 25-18.

Tessa Raddatz led in kills with nine. Camdyn Burgholzer led in assists with eight and aces with six. Maci Hayes also had six aces. Macy Kirk led in digs with nine.

The Mustangs are back in action today wit a 4 pm. contest against Newton St. Thomas.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown and Effingham St. Anthony split victories Monday.

SEB won the seventh-grade contest, 27-25, 25-15. Addison Koonce led the winners in aces with seven, kills with three and assists with four.

In the eighth-grade matchup, St. Anthony was a 25-22, 25-19 winners.

Leading St. Elmo/Brownstown were Audria Logue, Madi Miller and Stella Stoneciper with three aces each. Logue had five assists. Danika Ramsey led in kills with six.

At Louisville

Effingham Sacred Heart defeated North Clay (Louisville) in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Monday.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade match, 25-23, 25-17.

In eighth-grade play, Sacred Heart downed North Clay, 25-12, 25-23.

North Clay is back in action today at Dieterich.

 

At Olney

Jasper County was a winner in both matches over Olney Monday.

Jasper County picked up the seventh-grade contest, 25-16, 25-12 to improve to 7-6 on the season.

Tate led in kills with three while Reich led in assists with three, digs with two and blocks with one.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 25-4, 25-16 winner and stands at 10-2 on the season.

Probst had four aces, one block and five digs. Warfel and Michl led in kills with three each. Shull led in assists with five.

Jasper County is back in action today against Casey-Westfield.

At Olney

At Farina

South Central won the seventh-grade match over Sigel St. Michael Monday.

South Central claimed the win, 25-15, 25-23 to improve to 13-2 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, St. Michael was the winner, 25-10, 25-19. South Central dropped to 10-5.
