St. Anthony picked up the opening set 25-22 but Mattoon came back with 25-20, 25-14 scores for the match.
At Teutopolis
Teutopolis won both the seventh- and eigth-grade matches over Richland County Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes captured the seventh-grade contest, 25-7, 25-19 and now sports an 8-4 record.
Alicen Niemerg led T-town with two kills and six aces while Emma Isley had three assists. CiCi Mattox also had two kills.
"We got a lot of contributions from different people tonight and I thought Emma Isley did a nice job coming in with her setting, the same with Macy Petersen," said T-town Coach Anthony Munoz.
In eighth-grade play, T-town lost the opener 26-24 but came back strong with 25-15, 25-23 wins for the match.
"That was a good match, especially for fans," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "Olney had a comeback in the first to win it then we had a good second set with long vollleys and then in the third, it was close down to the wire."
Marie Zumbahlen led in digs with 20 while Gabbey Tegeler had 10 kills. Elise Pals led in blocks with two. Brittany Swingler had 14 assists and Clara Mette led in aces with six.
T-town improved to 9-3 on the season.

Jasper County played host to Martinsville and picked up two victories Tuesday.
Jasper County won the seventh-grade match, 26-24, 25-19 to even its record at 5-5.
Reich led in aces with four while Ghast had three kills. Tate led in assists with five and had five digs. Jones had one block.
In the eighth-grade match, Jasper County was a 25-22, 28-26 winner and now stands at 9-1 on the season.
Michel led in kills with five. Warfel had six aces. Fehrenbacher led in assists with seven. Shull, Warfel and Michl had one block each. Shull led in digs with six.
At Newton

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split victories with Ramsey Tuesday.
Ramsey won the seventh-grade match, 25-16, 25-17.
Jayla Arnett and Allison Shields led CHBC in points with five each. Arnett had four aces. Prater led in kills with one and blocks with one. Ethel Stuckemeyer also had one block. Adilynn Nowitzke had one dig.
"Once again the girls had some great moments, but were uanble to stay consistent in their play," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "I had tried a different starting rotation to see if that would help, but unfortunately it made for struggles in other areas."
In eighth-grade play, CHBC won the opener 25-14 but Ramsey took the second set 25-14. CHBC then won the match, 25-21.
"The eighth-graders also played inconsistently tonight but were able to pull together in game three to take the win," said Coach Jefferies.
Haley Doty led in points with 11, aces with six and assists with four. Lizah Bowlin and Lena Bowlin led in kills with five each. Laney Doty had three digs.
At Cowden

North Clay lost in eighth-grade action, 25-2, 25-7 to drop to 2-9 on the season.
At Dieterich
Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Dieterich in seventh- and eighth-grade play Tuesday.
Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest, 25-7, 25-10. Edie Wittenberg led in aces with 12 aces, assists with four and kills with four. Karly Wetherell had three digs. The seventh-graders are now 12-2.
In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras was a 25-17, 25-11 winner.
Kendra Hayes led in aces with six and kills with four. Claire VonBehrens had four digs and three assists. Karly Wetherell also had four digs. The team is now 10-1.
