Effingham St. Anthony won the Oblong Regional championship.
Class 1A Oblong Regional
Effingham St. Anthony was the champion of the Oblong Regional by downing another local squad, Cumberland.
The Bulldogs won in two sets, 25-14, 25-8.
Lucy Fearday led the way in kills with seven while Andrea Rudolphi had six. Rudolphi and Abbi Hatton had two aces each. Addi Nuxoll, Fearday, Anna Niemeyer and Sophia Seagle led in blocks with one each. Anna Faber had 12 assists. Maddie Kibler led the way in digs with 18.
The Bulldogs advance to face Edwards County (Albion) at 6 p.m. Monday in the Webber Township (Bluford) Sectional followed by South Central taking on Norris City-Omaha-Enfield at 7.

South Central captured its own regional championship Thursday.
Class 1A South Central Regional
The host Cougars won their own regional championship Thursday.
South Central defeated another National Trail Conference team, North Clay (Louisville).
The Cardinals won the opening set, 25-23 but South Central came back to take the second set, 25-23 and then win the match, 25-19.
Brooklyn Garrett led the Cougars with nine kills and 21 digs while Olivia Brauer had 14 assists and a block. Sierra Arnold led in aces with two and Brooke Cowger had nine kills and one block.
North Clay ended the season with a 27-11 record.
South Central improved to 29-7 and will face Norris City-Omaha-Enfield at the Webber Township (Bluford) Sectional Monday at 7 p.m. In the opener St. Anthony will meet Edwards County (Albion) at 6.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg were the champions at the Class 1A Kansas Regional.
Class 1A Kansas Regional
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg won the championship of the Kansas Regional Thursday evening.
The Hatchets lost the opening set 25-23 against Bethany Okaw Valley but came back to take the second set, 25-17 and the match 25-14.
"I was pretty nervous coming into tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We hadn't played our best this week. We started off looking pretty tough but we were able to gain some momentum the beginning of Saturday. I had worked Gabby in slowly this week after being out with an injury. By set three she was in almost full time. She really helped our offense out. It was nice to see her back out there. Halle, once again, had a good night."
Halle Moomaw led the way in kills with 18 while Gabby Vonderheide added 11. Ainslie Eident led in aces with five. Ella Kinkelaar had 22 digs, one solo block and two block assists. Kaylynn Carey also had one solo block and two block assists.
Windsor/Stew-Stras improved to 28-9 on the season and moves into the Champaign St. Thomas More Sectional to face LeRoy at 6 p.m. Monday. In the second match, Decatur Lutheran Co-op and Champaign St. Thomas More will square off at 7 p.m.

Newton claimed the championship of the Class 2A Salem Regional.
Class 2A Salem Regional
Newton High School won the championship of the Salem Regional Thursday evening.
The Eagles won the opening set in a hard-fought battle, 26-24 over Pana and then claimed the match, 25-12.
Schafer led the way for Newton with 20 assists and 10 digs. Shull led in kills with seven while Zumbahlen added six. Shull and Kessler led in blocks with two each.
Newton now sports a 29-8 record and will move into the Breese Mater Dei Sectional Monday.
The Eagles will take on Breese Central at 7 p.m. In the opener, Breese Mater Dei and Shelbyville square off at 6 p.m. Shelbyville won its own regional title Thursday evening by downing Robinson, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21.
Class 2A Salem Regional

Class 3A Herrin Regional
Herrin won the championship of its own regional Thursday evening.
Herrin had defeated Effingham Tuesday evening and then won over Centralia, 25-16, 13-25, 25-23 to advance.
Herrin will take on Mascoutah at 7 p.m. at the Centralia Sectional Monday. The opening match will feature Taylorville against Marion at 6 p.m.
