OBLONG -- Effingham St. Anthony and Cumberland advanced to the championship match of the Class 1A Oblong Volleyball Regional with victories Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs handed Neoga a loss in two sets, 25-14, 25-14.

Lucy Fearday led in kills with nine and blocks with three. Sophia Seagle had three aces. Anna Faber led in assists with 18.

In the second match, Cumberland won over Oblong, 27-25, 25-21.

St. Anthony and Cumberland will meet for the championship today at 6 p.m.

Class 1A Oblong Regional

St. Anthony -- Faber, 1 block, 18 assists; Rudolphi, 3 kills, 2 aces, 1 block; Hatton, 4 kills, 1 ace; Fearday, 9 kills, 3 blocks, 1 assist; Kibler, 1 kill; Niemeyer, 3 kills; Seagle, 2 kills, 3 aces, 1 assist

 

At Kansas

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a victory over Broadlands Heritage Wednesday evening.

The Hatchets won in two sets, 25-23, 25-19 to improve to 27-9 on the season.

"Tonight wasn't pretty," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "At this point int he season a win is a win and I'll take that. One game at a time."

WSS was led by Kinley Quast with three aces and 15 digs, Halle Moomaw with 12 kills, Ella Kinkelaar with 21 assists and Kaylynn Carey with two solo blocks.

In the opening match Wednesday, Bethany Okaw Valley downed host Kansas, 25-21, 25-22.

Windsor/Stew-Stras will now meet Bethany Okaw Valley at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 1A Kansas Regional

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg -- Kinkelaar, 1 ace, 5 kills, 21 assists, 7 digs 1 solo block; Vonderheide, 3 kills, 1 assist, 7 digs; Moomaw, 2 aces, 12 kills, 1 solo block; Quast, 3 aces, 1 kill, 4 assists, 15 digs; Hayes, 1 ace, 2 kills, 5 digs; Carey, 4 kills, 2 solo blocks; Eident, 4 digs; Bennett, 1 kill; Albert, 1 dig; Vonderheide, 1 dig

 

At Farina

South Central advanced to the championship match in its own Class 1A regional with a victory Wednesday.

The Cougars won in two sets over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-13, 25-11.

Sierra Arnold led the way with 14 digs while Olivia Brauer had 14 assists. Brooke Cowder led in kills with 10 and blocks with two. Emma Jenne also had two blocks. Rayne hall led in aces with two.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Morgan Hall with three kills, 13 digs and three points.

The Cougars are now 28-7 on the season.

North Clay was a winner in the second match of the evening. The Cardinals defeated Patoka Co-op, 25-19, 25-17.

North Clay now sports a 27-10 record.

The two National Trail Conference teams will meet at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 1A South Central Regional

South Central -- Arnold, 14 digs; Brauer, 1 kill, 14 assists, 5 digs; Garrett, 4 kills, 13 digs; Shumate, 7 assists, 2 digs; Chambers, 1 kill; Cowger, 10 kills, 3 digs, 2 blocks; Jenne, 8 kills, 2 blocks; Hall, 2 aces; Runge, 1 dig, Mitchell, 1 ace

Class 2A Salem Regional

Newton will be competing in the Class 2A Salem Regional championship match tonight.

The Eagles will take on Pana at 6 p.m.
