Area Volleyball Teams Head Into Regional Action Monday

Effingham St. Anthony, Cumberland, Dieterich and Neoga will be competing in the Class 1A Oblong Regional.

The Bulldogs drew the No. 1 seed and won't play until Wednesday against the winner of the Hutsonville/Palestine vs. Neoga contest at 6 p.m.

Cumberland and Dieterich play each other Tuesday at 7 p.m.

In the Class 1A South Central Regional, the host squad along with St. Elmo/Brownstown, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, North Clay (Louisville) and Altamont will be competing for the title.

South Central drew the No. 2 seed and North Clay was No. 3. The Cougars will take on Mulberry Grove Monday at 6 p.m. while North Clay meets Clay City Tuesday at 6.

St. Elmo/Brownstown and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City square off against each other Monday at 7 p.m.

Altamont will face Patoka Co-op at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will be the lone area team in the Class 1A Kansas Regional.

The Hatchets drew the No. 3 seed and will play Tuesday against Casey-Westfield.

In the Class 2A Salem Regional, Newton drew the No. 1 seed and will take on the winner of the Lawrenceville vs. Greenville contest.

Teutopolis is also competing in Class 2A at the Shelbyville Regional. The Wooden Shoes will open play Monday against Marshall at 6 p.m.

Effingham is the lone area school competing in Class 3A. The Hearts drew the No. 6 seed and will meet No. 3 Herrin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
