STRASBURG -- Teutopolis High School came calling and put up a good fight but fell to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in volleyball action Friday.

The Hatchets won in two sets, 25-19, 25-20 to improve to 12-5 on the season.

"We ended a busy week with some good competition," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "It's always fun to play someone to keep us guessing and working hard. It only makes us better."

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Ella Kinkelaar with five aces and 19 assists, Halle Moomaw and Kaylynn Carey with seven kills each, Kinley Quast with seven digs and Moomaw with one solo block.

Teutopolis was led by TaNeal Einhorn with two kills and three blocks, Sara Zumbahlen with three aces and four assists and Sara Niemerg with three digs.

"Stew started each set with a run of six unanswered points behind aggressive serving and a T-town defensive lapse," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "The second set saw a mid-game T-town rally ended by a Moomaw kill which led to a Stew run of four points to rebuilding their lead.

"We struggle on the road with rowdy environments currently. We let nerves get to us in various ways. Sometimes it is the hitting, sometimes the setting and tonight it was our serve-receive. That's a bad thing against a top end team like Stew and they capitalized on it. The bright side is our runs of struggling are getting shorter and they are now just affecting one aspect of our play at a time. Like Sam Hinkle said, it's all about the process and I think we're getting better, even when we lose on the scoreboard."

The Shoes dropped to 10-15 on the season.

WSS won the junior varsity match, 26-24, 27-25 while T-town was a winner in freshman/sophomore play, 17-25, 25-18, 11-8.
