St. Elmo/Brownstown won the championship of the Webber Smackdown Saturday.

BLUFORD -- St. Elmo/Brownstown captured the championship of the Webber Volleyball Smackdown during the weekend.

SEB won over Pope County, 25-8, 25-17. Morgan Hall led the winners with four kills while Peyton Garrard had seven aces and nine points and Shelby Sasse eight digs.

Then came a victory over Meridian, 25-12, 25-19.

Hall had five kills, two aces and 11 points for the winner while Sasse had five digs.

St. Elmo/Browntown then downed Webber Township, 25-18, 25-16 to finish the sweep.

Baldrige led in kills with 12, points with 12 and had 14 digs while Hall led in digs with 16 and blocked shots with two and Sasse had 14 digs and an ace.

Named to the All-Tournament Team were Morgan Hall, Shelby Sasse and Laney Baldrige.

At Effingham

Effingham hosted a freshman round robin tournament Saturday.

Teutopoils defeated the Hearts, 26-24, 14-25, 25-23.

Olney won over Teutopolis, 25-18, 19-25, 27-25 and Olney defeated EHS, 25-12, 25-18.

Olney won with a 2-0 record followed by T-town 1-1 and Effingham 0-2.
