WSS, Cumberland Head Into Sectional Finals

The Hatchets easily handled Farmer City-Blue Ridge in two sets, 25-16, 25-14 at the Class 1A Tuscola Sectional.
"I'm so excited to say we won," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We played a little scared tonight but we kept fighting. The girls played the net well. We will have to bring our A game on Wednesday to play St. Thomas More."
Leading the way for the Hatchets were Kinley Quast with three aces and seven digs, Gabby Vonderheide with 13 kills and seven digs, Ella Kinkelaar with 23 assists and Brianna Hewing, Halle Moomaw and Kaylynn Carey with four block assists each.
Windsor/Stew-Stras heads (31-6-1) into the sectional championship tonight at 6 p.m. against Champaign St. Thomas More. St. Thomas More downed Broadlands Heritage, 25-14, 25-16.

Class 1A Wayne City Sectional
One area team fell and one picked up a victory at the Wayne City Sectional Monday evening.
South Central suffered a loss in the opening match to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, 25-12, 25-13. The Cougars finish the season with a 21-6 record.
In the second contest, Cumberland was a winner over Woodlawn, 25-20, 25-21. The Pirates advance with a 29-7 mark to face Norris City-Omaha-Enfield at 6 p.m. tonight for the sectional championship.
The winners of the Wayne City and Tuscola sectionals will meet Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Casey-Westfield Super-Sectional and a berth in the Class 1A State Tournament.
