Effingham High School captured the Charleston Volleyball Invitational championship.
CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School claimed the championship of the Charleston Volleyball Invitational Saturday.
The Hearts defeated Decatur MacArthur, 25-11, 25-13. EHS then won over Highland, 25-23, 25-22.
EHS downed Champaign Centennial, 27-25, 25-16 and won over Charleston, 25-15, 25-23.
The Hearts finished out by defeating Highland in the championship match, 25-22, 12-25, 25-22.
Named to the All-Tournament Team was Sawyer Althoff. Lexi Chrappa was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.

South Central finished third in the Vandalia Tournament Saturday.
The Cougars defeated Decatur Eisenhower, 25-12, 25-13 before dropping a match to host Vandalia, 25-22, 12-25, 15-7. The Cougars defeated Lebanon, 25-14, 25-13 and East Alton-Wood River, 25-7, 25-23 to finish third.
The varsity currently has a 9-3 record.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City lost to Carlyle, 25-13, 25-16 and fell to East Alton-Wood River, 25-17, 11-25, 15-7. CHBC downed New Athens 25-16, 25-16 before finishing out with a loss to Lebanon, 25-19, 25-15, 17-25 to finish fifth overall.

North Clay (Louisville) claimed second place in the Flora Wolfgal Tournament Saturday.
The Cardinals finished 4-1 on the day. They lost to Clay City, 25-17, 25-17 before coming back to win over Dieterich, 25-14, 25-16; Cisne, 25-17, 25-12; Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 25-17, 23-25, 15-9 and Flora, 25-20, 25-22.
Clay City won over North Clay then defeated Flora, 25-15, 19-25, 15-7; won over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 25-17, 26-24 and Cisne, 25-10, 25-12.
At Altamont
Altamont hosted a junior varsity tournament Saturday.
In Pool A:
