T-town, CHBC, SEB Nab Volleyball Victories

OLNEY -- Teutopolis High School opened the volleyball season with a victory over host Olney Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won in two sets, 25-23, 25-16. Emily Konkel had five blocks for the Shoes while Sara Swingler had eight points, Summer Wall five digs and Jaden Deters and Sydnee Huber two kills each.

T-town also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-18. In freshman action, the two teams split with T-town winning 25-16 and Olney winning 25-20.

At Olney

Varsity Match

Teutopolis -- Deters, 3 digs, 2 kills; Huber, 2 blocks, 2 kills; Konkel, 5 blocks, 4 digs, 1 kill, 1 ace, 4 points; Pals, 2 digs, 1 kill; Probst, 2 blocks, 2 digs, 1 kill, 4 assists; Swingler,4 digs, 1 ace, 8 points, 5 assists; Wall, 5 digs

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell in the opening set, 28-26 to Mulberry Grove but rallied to win the match, 25-8, 25-19.

Tatyana Duckwitz had 11 kills for the Bobcats while Marissa Summers had 10. Gracie Heckert led in aces with four and digs with eight. Raechelle Kelly had 16 assists and scored 11 points while Madison Wojcik had 10 points.

In junior varsity action, CHBC was a winner 25-17, 21-25, 25-4. The Bobcats also claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-11, 18-13.

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City -- Duckwitz, 11 kills, 1 assist, 7 digs, 2 points; Kelly, 3 aces, 16 assists, 11 points; Heckert, 3 kills, 4 aces, 1 block, 8 digs, 5 points; Wojcik, 6 kills, 2 aces, 12 assists, 2 blocks, 1 dig, 10 points; Summers, 10 kills, 1 assist, 1 block, 4 digs, 1 point; Stuckemeyer, 2 kills; Smith, 1 kill; Stefanski, 1 kill, 1 assist; Rehkemper, 3 aces, 7 digs, 19 points

 

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown went three sets before downing Martinsville in action Tuesday.

The Eagles won the opener 25-7 before Martinsville came back with a 25-14 count. SEB then won the match, 25-21.

Laney Baldridge led the winners in digs with 11. Peyton Garrard had 17 assists. Morgan Hall led in points with 13 and aces with five. Lydia Smith had seven kills.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown -- Baldridge, 5 points, 5 kills, 2 assists, 11 digs, 1 blocked shot; Carson, 1 dig; Garrard, 5 points, 3 kills, 17 assists, 2 aces, 7 digs; Hall, 13 points, 4 kills, 4 assists, 5 aces, 7 digs; Nolan, 4 points, 4 kills, 2 assists, 2 digs; Sasse, 4 points, 2 kills, 2 aces, 9 digs; Smith, 7 points, 7 kills, 1 assist, 4 digs; Wilhour, 2 points, 2 kills, 1 dig

 

At Dieterich

Cisne came calling and picked up a victory in two sets over Dieterich Tuesday. Cisne won 25-12, 25-21.

Dieterich was led by Emily Hall with five kills, one ace and one block, Ali Schmidt with 10 assists and one block, Olivia Brummer with nine digs, Marli Michl with one block and Kaitlyn Boerngen with one ace.

At Clay City

Robinson came to town and picked up varsity and junior varsity wins over Clay City Tuesday.

The Maroons captured the varsity match, 25-22, 16-25, 25-12.

Leading Clay City were Hailey Miller with six kills, Taylor Pittman with four aces and 10 blocks and Sammie Craig with 18 digs.

In the junior varsity contest, Robinson won 20-25, 25-16 15-10.
