EHS Drops VB Match, Dieterich, S. Central, Newton Win

Effingham High School fell to Mahomet-Seymour in Apollo Conference volleyball action Tuesday.
The Bulldogs won in two sets, 25-18, 25-17.
Leading the Hearts were Jacy Boatman with eight kills. Tori Budde had five assists. Annie Frost led in aces with four. Boatman and Kennedy Sowell had three blocks each. Morgan Hagler led in digs with seven.
The Hearts were celebrating Senior Night.
In junior varsity action, Effingham was a winner, 26-24, 25-18.
The Hearts return to play Thursday at Mattoon.

Dieterich claimed victories over Ramsey in non-conference action Tuesday.
The Movin' Maroons won the varsity contest in three sets. Ramsey won the opener 25-15 but Dieterich came back with 25-21, 25-22 scores for the match.
Gabriella Hardiek had nine kills for the winners. Allie Poe had six aces. Leading in digs was Emily Bloemer with 14 and assists with nine. Iva Lilly had three blocks.
In junior varsity play, Dieterich won 25-7, 25-13.

Altamont fell to Decatur St. Teresa in action Tuesday evening.
St. Teresa won 25-11, 25-23.
Pemberton led Altamont in digs with eight, Ruffner led in kills with five and blocks with one. McManaway had 19 assists.
In the junior varsity contest, St. Teresa picked up the victory. St. Teresa won the opener 25-12 but Altamont came back with a 25-19 win. St. Teresa took the match 15-10. Altamont drops to 13-5.

South Central handed North Clay (Louisville) two losses Tuesday evening.
The Cougars won the varsity match, 25-15, 25-10 and improved to 11-5 on the season. Sydnee Garrett led in digs with eight, aces with two and had one block, Madyson Magnus led in assists with seven and had one block. Halle Smith had six kills and Sierra Arnold had one block.
In the junior varsity match, South Central was a winner, 25-5, 25-22 and now sports a 10-6 record.
South Central travels to Dieterich Thursday.

Newton lost the opening set, 25-23 against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in Tuesday evening action. But the Eagles clawed back in the second set 26-24 and then won the match, 25-13.
Ochs led the way in kills for Newton with 10 while Schafer had 23 assists. B. Johnson had two blocks. Phillips led in digs with 15. Newton improved to 10-6.
WSS was led by Lexi Domzalski in assists with 15, Halle Moomaw in kills with eight, Hannah Hayes in aces with three and Jessica Rauch in digs with 15. Moomaw had two solo blocks and one block assist. WSS dropped to 12-3.
In the junior varsity match, Newton was a winner, 25-17, 25-23 and clamied the freshman contest, 25-15, 25-21.

Teutopolis fell to Mattoon in junior varsity and varsity action Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes lost the varsity contest, 25-11, 25-21 to drop to 6-13 on the season.
Leading the Shoes were Lilly Jansen in digs with five, Carly Michels in kills with five, Sara Swingler in assists with eight. Hannah Rodgers had two aces and eight assists and Abby Niemerg led in digs with two.
The Wooden Shoes are back in action Thursday hosting Mount Zion during Senior Night festivities.

Neoga dropped both matches to Robinson Tuesday evening.
The Indians lost the varsity contest in three sets. Robinson claimed the opener 25-22 before Neoga took the second set, 25-23. Robinson then won 25-10.
Gracie Gresens led Neoga in blocks with four, Abby Hatton had 19 digs and two aces, Abbi Dow had six kills and Ella Shuler led in assists with 11.
In the junior varsity match, Robinson was a winner, 16-25, 25-15, 25-16.
