Effingham St. Anthony claimed a National Trail Conference volleyball win over Neoga Monday.

The Bulldogs won in two, 25-23, 25-11. Ada Rozene led the way in kills with eight and blocks with four. Elizabeth Kabbes had two aces and 10 points. Kyra Swearingen led in assists with 16.

Neoga was led by Abbi Dow with four kills, Andrea Burcham with seven assists, Gracie Gresens with two blocks and Abby Hatton and Ella Shuler with three digs each.

St. Anthony also  nabbed the junior varsity match. Neoga won the opener 25-21 but St. Anthony took the victory, 25-15, 25-13.

The Bulldogs downed Neoga in freshman play, 25-18, 25-9.

At Altamont

It was a hard fought contest for both squads but Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg pulled out the National Trail Conference win over Altamont Monday.

The Hatchets took the opener 25-21 before Altamont claimed a 25-15 win. WSS then took the match 25-23.

"This was an edge-of-the-seat kind of game," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "I'm so proud of the girls for pulling this off."

Lexi Domzalski pounded down three aces for the winners and had 18 assists. Jessica Rauch led in digs with 10. Halle Moomaw had nine kills. Brianna Hewing had four block assists.

Altamont was led by Mette with 11 kills and two aces, Runge with four blocks, Eckhardt with 12 digs and McManaway with 24 assists.

The Hatchets are 7-0 in the conference, 12-2 overall. Altamont dropped to 7-1 in the conference, 14-1 overall.

In the junior varsity match, Windsor/Stew-Stras won 21-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Altamont dropped to 6-2 in the conference, 13-4 overall.

The Indians were winners in freshman play, 25-22, 25-19. WSS fell to 6-3.

Teutopolis improved to 6-12 on the season with a varsity win over Marshall Monday.

The Wooden Shoes won in two sets, 25-12, 25-15. Abby Niemerg had two blocks for the Shoes. Lilly Jansen led in digs with seven. Carly Michels had 11 kills. Sara Swingler led in points with nine. Hannah Rodgers had 12 assists.

In the junior varsity match, T-town was a winner, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12.

The Teutopolis freshmen beat the Teutopolis sophomores, 25-23, 25-22.

T-town is back in action Tuesday at Mattoon.

At Cowden

South Central tallied a National Trail Conference win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

The Cougars won in two sets, 25-15, 25-23 to improve to 10-5 overall.

Leading South Central were Halle Smith with seven kills, Madyson Magnus with eight assists. Sydnee Garrett and Smith had two aces each. Garrett led in digs with 10. Sierra Arnold had three blocks.

South Central also nabbed the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-10 and is 9-6 on the season.

In freshman/sophomore action, the Cougars won 25-8, 25-13 and improves to 8-4-1.

South Central will host North Clay Tuesday.

At Cowden

At Newton

Newton tallied a three-set victory over Flora in Monday evening competition.

The Eagles won the opener 25-14 before Flora came back with a 25-20 count. Newton then claimed the match 25-12 to improve to 9-6.

B. Johnson had 10 kills for the winners. Parr led in digs with 13. Shull had three blocked shots. Chapman led in assists with 14.

In the junior varsity match, Newton was a winner 23-25, 25-16, 25-13. The Eagles also claimed the freshman match 25-19, 25-17.

Newton is back in action Tuesday against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

Clay City downed North Clay (Louisville) in both junior varsity and varsity competition Monday.

The Wolves won the varsity match in two sets, 25-20, 25-13.

Hailey Miller led Clay City in kills with seven. Kaylee Norton and Taylor Pittman had two aces each.
